Got my order for 2 phones delivered today, and got them both activated to start the countdown clock on the unlock. For anyone who bought one just to activate for the one-month plan you purchased and unlock, the easiest way is the automated phone service (the online process wasn't working for me):

1) 1-877-430-2355
2) Press 2 to Activate Device
3) Press 2 for a New Number
4) Follow voice prompt to enter IMEI, ZIP code, create PIN, etc. When asked by the prompt if you want to "add to an existing account", say "No". If you purchased a plan with the phone, it will recognize this and automatically activate the SIM for the plan.

When the voice prompt tells you to power on the device, the instructions were incomplete and unclear. If you've never activated a phone before here are the steps:

1) Attached to the box for your phone is the associated SIM card in a pouch; remove and punch out the nano-SIM.
2) Using the SIM tool in the iPhone box (or a small paperclip), pop out your SIM card tray and insert the nano-SIM.
3) Re-insert the SIM tray into the iPhone and power on the phone.
4) Go through the setup process; I recommend connecting to WiFi when prompted to make things go faster.
5) Your phone should be activated within a few minutes of being powered on with the SIM inserted, assuming you went through all the steps in the automated phone activation.
So no luck at Tega Cay, SC Walmart. They did have at least 2 in stock. The guy was nice looking into it for 30 mins or so. He finally found out the Walmart had to have the WARP system for in-store phone activation so call up or local Walmart to ask if they have that. He mentioned the store in Rock Hill, SC on Dave Wylie had the WARP system.

I'm not going to waste my time going there, but thought I'd help others. Be sure to call the local Walmart you are going to, ask if they have the phone in stock (both stores said online they didn't have stock, but both stores did have them in stock) and ask if they have the WARP system for activation. Good luck everyone.
Yes done it three times now. Use it a few times with the straighttalk network for a few days first though. Text, call, browse then 61 days later unlocked.

Called yesterday and the agent gave me the same info. I would have it by tomorrow. Checked order today and still in pending fulfillment. Called credit card company today and disputed. Called back Straight Talk to cancel the order again and they said that the order was actually canceled yesterday and a refund would be issued.

Ended up getting two phones from the deal, just not the two with the $35.00 plans.

Glad this one is over.

Both my orders from Monday have pending refunds on credit card site so the refunds have not officially posted but they look like they will.

I did not ask to cancel, I did not get any email updates. I did however call on Friday and ask when my phones would be shipped and created two support tickets, one for each order. Its possible the resolution of support ticket was to cancel my orders.
I am still in the game with 4 phones at $74 (4 pack before tax) Pending remote fulfillment

I have a second Pending remote fulfillment set to be delivered today

Yikes. I have cell service through Total by Verizon (formerly Total Wireless) and have an order for two iPhone SEs in limbo with status pending remote fulfillment. I certainly don't want to get banned from Total by Verizon and not be able to have cell phone service. Is there no way to get a refund without doing a chargeback?

Don't do a chargeback now. Do you still want the phones? Total is a sister company and the phones will work on their service YMMV.

Yes that's right, is that allowed with ST? I've only been with T-Mobile and Verizon so maybe I'm making some incorrect assumptions about what is possible. I'll dig around some more and maybe try contacting support tomorrow. Anyways, thanks again and good night!
The whole SIM-swapping thing is generally viewed as bad with these deals, as people have had issues with unlocks getting messed up. Delaying the network activation isn't usually a problem, but once you activate the service to trigger the unlock, it's safest to keep that phone and line locked together until the unlock happens. Trying to switch the service to a different phone essentially changes the IMEI in their system, which could mean the unlock doesn't get pushed through. I don't know any of that with certainty, but it's often warned on these threads that it can be problematic. Activating the phones physically before network activation to use as Wi-Fi devices is no problem, although that won't trigger the unlock timer. One possible workaround if I'm understanding what you're looking to do correctly would be to give the phones to your fam members to use as Wi-Fi devices now and then wait to network-activate them when you want to use the service. At that point, activate the service on those SEs and swap phones so that you now use the SEs until the unlock and then swap back later. (Phone backups can be done with iTunes prior to swaps which will essentially make the phones practically identical in content with all your contacts and call / message history intact.) I'm not sure if that's feasible, but one possibility. You could also try the phone-swapping thing, but I'm just not sure what to expect with that, as I haven't seen much data with people trying. Most everyone seems to keep the line / IMEI steady through the unlock.

I have never ever heard of any business company that said "We can't ship your product. We also won't refund your money. You need to file a dispute chargeback with the credit card company.". This makes the process more time consuming and more difficult. The customer service are the ones with the power to charge and to give refunds. They check their computer, see that the product is stuck in limbo, out of stock or whatever, they cancel and issue refund.

Chargebacks are supposed to be used for fraud situations where you see a charge on your statement that is unrecognized and you never ever made. If you file a chargeback with the credit card company and then the phone is shipped out today or tomorrow, it throws a wrench in the process. Credit card company or straight talk company may think the customer is trying to scam for a free phone with a delay shipping.

This is a little confusing to me. You say most everyone keeps the "line steady", but the big advertisement from SDers on this deal is that only one month of service is necessary. That is not keeping the "line steady".

PayPal chargeback filed Monday. Will provide updates.

People who are worried about future deals, why would you consider doing business with this company after they steal your money?

You can talk to a dozen reps and they will all tell you different things (one will say order is shipped, another will say order is cancelled). The reps have absolutely no clue what is going on.

Yeah, I'm so blown away by the fact that so many people seem to be running around pulling their hair out like "Oh my God, oh my god … I'm without $100 for a week." I mean they're not Amazon and it's very well known that they are slow as heck at times and very often, it takes a couple of weeks before things happen. Yeah, it's a sucky way to do things, but really not unexpected for most dealing with them. There's one report of a pending refund / credit so far and more may very well start showing up. That's actually extremely surprising to me as well, as I figured refunds would take a week or so to post once the cancellations started rolling and it's only been a week since the orders were even placed.

If you don't try to cancel an order and ask for refund from them, straight talk may ship it out today or tomorrow. Customer may try to do this for trying to get a chargeback and get a free phone. Chargeback is designed for fraud. A charge that you never ever made. A few day delay in shipping isn't really that. The customer that does chargeback is saying "Straight Talk charged you for something that you never ever ordered.".

100% agree with you on what a chargeback is and that is why I haven't filed one yet. But when they tell me "we are not shipping this, we are not refunding, and we are not even canceling your order…you have to contact your bank", we are dealing with a different situation than the norm.

As in not swapping the line / phone pairing. It's fine for the line to go inactive once the plan expires, but if you activate the phone with IMEI xxx1234 on phone line 234-555-2222, then you keep that pairing steady and don't swap in a phone with a different IMEI onto that line until the unlock. Again, I haven't played with it so can't provide any data on it, but that's what most everyone seems to recommend and what people mean when they warn of no SIM-swapping (physically swapping SIM cards can also cause the new phone's IMEI to be updated in their system)

ST is losing money/productivity from their CSRs by answering all of our calls. If we continue calling, ST will lose more money than if they would have just shipped the orders(phone only/phone + silver plan) rather than stringing us along.
