1800r with a smaller monitor (this one) makes more sense for a PC gamer imo. Optimal viewing distance of a 49 inch 1800r is nearly 6 feet, which isn't practical

I don't think it's wise to dismiss this OLED's inferior text presentation for office work, not to mention burn-in concerns. I would only recommend QD-OLED to those who really only use it for gaming.
While it is a great monitor with ideal contrast, the benefits stop there. You are fooling yourself if you think the limited vertical space 21:9 (vs 21:10), low resolution, and burn-in worries make it a stronger all-around performer over the 38".
QD-OLED = pure gamer, doesn't work from home.
AW 38" IPS is undoubtedly the superior all arounder for BOTH work and play where QD-OLED excels in just gaming.
Text on a white background is the only area where an IPS can compare to an OLED. If you care anything about gaming, movies, pictures, or anything where color vibrancy, absolute blacks, and picture depth make a difference there is no questioning the OLED. It just makes them look 1000x better
Ive heard buying from Dell gives 3 year burn in warranty.
I thought this too but when I saw this monitor in the store the text clarity looked fine. I kind of regret not giving it a chance, but don't care too much since the OLED monitors coming next year will blow this one out of the water anyway.

- 21:10 gives more vertical aspect ratio versus 34" 21:9 which makes it better for work purposes or non-gaming tasks or even web browsing. One of the common complaints on ALL 34" UW displays is that the vertical space can feel a bit short.
- Similarly, 38" at 3840x1600 is 6.1m pixels versus 5m pixels at 3440x1440. That's like ~22% more real-estate which is not insignificant.
- Text readability and sharpness is superior on IPS versus QD-OLED, at least for now, due to different pixel arrangement. Not an issue for everyone, but plenty of people report there's something a little off about text presentation on the OLED.
- While gaming contrast can't compete with the OLED, it makes up for it a little bit in simply being a bigger display. Gaming on the 38" feels closer to gaming on a big TV whereas 34" feels more like a small monitor.
- Burn in! Especially for those who WFH or those using it more for non-gaming tasks, I would not be comfortable using the OLED as a daily driver due to burn-in concerns.
I think the best case scenario is using the AW 38 with the 42-48" C2/C3 as an extended monitor for games played with controller and multimedia, and AW for more fast paced stuff or titles played with mouse. That is the ultimate work + play setup IMO.

I own this monitor and I agree, but to say its good for fast paced stuff is wrong. You will still need another display that can do 240hz (and/or black frame insertion) at least for competitive PC fps games.
