Regardless if you decide to buy this particular unit or not, one KEY specification you should locate prior to purchase with any home "A/V type" Receiver:

Bolded effect added by me for emphasis -

Power output (All channels):

200 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD,1-ch driven)

90 W/Ch (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08% THD,
2-ch driven, FTC)

Hope this information is insightful / helpful.

God damnit. I got burned hard by a bad HDMI board from Onkyo years ago. It was a giant recall that the old heads in here will remember. But for this price I'm thinking of rolling the dice again. SMH I'll never learn.

Slim to none.

This is the cheapest I've ever seen this receiver.

I don't understand the point of a receiver...can someone educate me?

I have a PS5, Switch, Apple TV connected to my TV with an LG Soundbar and it's handled by eARC I believe. Switching inputs is kind of slow, but I don't know if that's just my TV. The most annoying thing for me is sometimes the Soundbar will randomly switch to Optical and I need to cycle thru the options to get it back to eARC.

Would a receiver help with any of that? Would it let me plug in my record player to use the soundbar as an input too?
This is to power speakers. This plus nice tower speakers will sound better and will be louder than a sound bar. Receiver plus nice surround sound + blu ray quality movies + a nice TV = a super impressive home theater setup. Your looking at $800-1200 for a good reciever and surround setup. Probably not for you. Go to a home theatre store and test the systems, you'll understand the difference

Love this receiver. Better than my last Yamaha Aventage. Picked up a used one for $200 on eBay this past January.

Here is what their return policy says:

"For the first 30 days after your purchase you may return merchandise for a full money back refund, excluding any shipping charges."

No, that's one of the main benefits of a soundbar.

Please tell me you're joking.
Slight sarcasm, but the jokes on you if you don't understand that the amplifier puts out rated power at only two channels and not seven. You're not getting 90x7!

You don't NEED full power into 7 speakers "simultaneously." At least on movie soundtracks. And when you consider that someone will likely be using a subwoofer or two and is setting their speakers to "small", it matters even less.

I'd be really interested in any links you have where someone could actually hear their front speakers getting less power when the surrounds and atmos speakers were being asked to output loud, full power audio.

See if your soundbar has "RCA" or "Aux" inputs as shown in pictures 3 & 4 below and connect the record player that way:
https://soundgearlab.com/how-to/c...cal-cable/
I use my receiver to power a 7.1 surround system and connect a PC, game consoles, record player, audio tape player, and Korg keyboard. If you're new you might consider this low cost experiment: older name brand receivers can often be found at thrift stores in the $20 to $50 range (might not have HDMI but if so very unlikely to support 4K) and they usually carry speakers too. See how you like the sound quality compared to the sound bar. You can always upgrade to a modern receiver later and keep using the same speakers and find additional and/or better speakers along the way

Used receivers from individual sellers on places like Craigslist or OfferUp tend to be more modern (often w/ 1080p HDMI) and the sellers might throw in the surround speakers with sub as part of a package deal for cheap

Can I use zone B on this system as a Chromecast audio? I basically want to use the receiver in the family room and then run the zone be outs to speakers that are on the back porch.

Just did a chat. Adorama only shoulders return shipping if the item arrives damaged or defective.
