Regardless if you decide to buy this particular unit or not, one KEY specification you should locate prior to purchase with any home "A/V type" Receiver:

Bolded effect added by me for emphasis -

Power output (All channels):

200 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD,1-ch driven)

90 W/Ch (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08% THD,
2-ch driven, FTC)

Hope this information is insightful / helpful.

God damnit. I got burned hard by a bad HDMI board from Onkyo years ago. It was a giant recall that the old heads in here will remember. But for this price I'm thinking of rolling the dice again. SMH I'll never learn.

It really depends on several factors, some of the primaries for me are: 1) how efficient are the speakers it will be driving and 2) how big of a room will it be trying to fill with sound. In a small to medium sized room with 90dB or higher speakers this unit would probably do fairly well, other than that, I certainly would be looking for more power for "all channels driven".

Shit I bought this last week at $319. Anyone know Adorama's price adjustment policy? I haven't had a lot of time with it yet, but I will say I'm pleased with it so far for anyone wondering.

I am in the same boat. Just looked over their website a little and didn't see anything obviously mentioning a price adjustment policy. And of course it's Thanksgiving so I doubt customer service is available. Probably not worth ordering again and returning for ~$20 refund, especially given how big and heavy it is.

I've been looking to upgrade my aging TX-SR608 for quite awhile due to is inability to pass through 4K content, but I've never really understood all of the specs on these receivers, despite owning several over the past couple decades. Can anyone tell me if this would be an upgrade or a downgrade given these specs taken from the TX-SR608 manual?

100 Watts/Channel @ 8 ohms (FTC)
• 160 Watts/Channel @ 6 ohms (IEC)
• 175 Watts/Channel @ 6 ohms (JEITA)
• WRAT–Wide Range Amplifier Technology
(5 Hz to 100 kHz bandwidth)
• Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry
• H.C.P.S. (High Current Power Supply) Massive High
Power Transformer
• Jitter Cleaning Circuit Technology
You won't be able to notice any power or audio quality differences. The main benefit you will get with this is 4K support and newer surround sound processing support, and other features such as eARC, network, Bluetooth, etc.

Really trying to dump these now.
I'd buy it for $25 just for stereo for the garage maybe, but hair with my pair of Echo's out there.
The surround part was just horrible for me. I returned mine to Costco and hit a Denon that works as it should.

I ordered one within the last week as well, and I reached out to them a few hours ago through the website's contact us form to ask them if they can price match the current price. They emailed me back and said they will refund me the difference since it was a recent order.

Ok, thanks for the input. Placed the order, especially now that the price dropped further. Appreciate the help!
