Fire stick is one giant advertisement for Amazon. Roku sticks to the streaming basics and is excellent.
Roku Ultra LT is $34 at walmart. I'd pay the extra $4.
Firesticks have more features and you can jailbreak for even more customizability.
But, I've honestly switched all of my Firesticks to Roku's. I've found they have better connection and prefer their UI. Plus you can use the app to connect your stick to Bluetooth off your phone; for example I have a receiver for outdoor speakers I can connect my outdoor TV to, or earbuds at night when my wife is sleeping.

I was researching this and the only difference is the 4K+ comes with their more expensive rechargeable controller shown here: https://www.roku.com/products/acc...-remote-pr

It charges via micro-USB, has a lost remote finder mode and 2 customizable shortcut buttons.

Besides Amazon it looks like the 4K+ bundle is either discontinued or not sold by most retailers these days.

Same price on Roku's site with free shipping. I have this one on my main TV, works well. Have it connected to my 5GHz wi-fi.

Looks like the main difference is the Stick has Dolby Vision support. Also with Express it looks like you can add Ethernet support with a separate adapter.

How does this compare to Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K? Including performance, app compatibility, user experience, and updates?

IME, the sticks don't last very long if you tend to leave them playing something overnight. I've had 3 cook themselves, and I've never had a single issue with any non-stick streaming players. Also, the Express 4K+ is 5 bucks cheaper. Sucks that they don't support Dolby Vision, but I doubt that most people are buying a Roku for a TV that supports that anyways.

I have the older 4k Roku model from 4 years ago or so. I can't get it to connect to 5ghz, only 2.4. I should probably upgrade

Why? Trying to decide as I like the convenience of a stick but wonder if the ultra is worth the extra space (and 4 bucks)
