Why is this so big? I expected to find additional USB C charging ports on it or something but doesn't seem like it does anything other than charge the phone.

I got this open box at BB for less than $20. It's good. It's not MagSafe though, rather it's "magnetic". I don't know if that impacts long term battery life or not…

I have one of these. You plug USB-C into back of stand and it charges phone via MagSafe.

Works great with my 13 pro max.

Also, this 7.5w charger is going to put less stress on your battery than a 15W charger as it will produce less heat when charging. (There are *ALWAYS* downsides to faster charging rates/speeds when you can feel the extra heat generated.)

I have one of these. No external ports like it's larger brother. I have both but prefer this one. The included charger couldn't handle extra ports anyway.

This model is about the size of a soda can. The height is there so you can put a pro max phone at a ~45 degree angle. Can't see this being much shorter and still functional with the larger phones.

Since this comes with the charger, so it probably doesn't matter to most people. But if you misplace the charger, it needs more power than a typical 0.5 or 1amp charger to function. Also, it's designed to let you stick your phone here at an angle so you can look at your phone while charging. However, even though the base/unit is heavy, a larger phone (pro max) will still tip over if the angle is too steep.
