Say you bought the iPhone for 1100 and paid $1000 in CC and $100 in Apple Gift Card. If Your trade in value is $400, then $300 will back as CC refund and $100 back to your gift card balance
In other words you can't covert your gift cards balance to cash through trade in route

Converting GCs to cash would be using 1000 in GC and 100 cash, and expecting the full 400 to returned via Cash..
I bought 20 gift cards last Thanksgiving at the store totaling $2000. I went home to redeem them and apparently they were already redeemed.
Stay away from the stores and buy them online from Target.com
On top of this, I thought the GC doesn't get activated until you purchase it, so how can the funds be stolen right after you buy it? Does it have a magnetic bar code someone could scan?
Another question. If you buy an Apple/iTunes eGC/GC and successfully enter into your Apple/iTunes account, are your funds safe or can someone who has somehow stolen your GC # still drain your funds later? I know if you enter a Target GC into Target.com, you can still use the GC in the store. In this case, it seems your funds are never safe if thieves are so sophisticated they can steal and redeem most GCs in stores through magic I don't understand.
Any recommendations of Best color to get?

Does anyone know how this happens? I haven't looked at a physical Apple/iTunes GC for a while, but don't most GCs have parts that have to be scratched off which you would notice?
