- We haven't found a way to unlock the iPhone 14/15 like we did the 13 because it has an eSIM assigned that gets activated on boot, and no physical SIM card. Also the phones are showing Verizon locked and not flex reseller policy. It will automatically unlock 60 days post activation however.

I worked at Verizon many years ago and would always have to correct mistakes the telesales and internet sales reps would make.
There are multiple trade in prices. Ex: Unlimited Welcome ($27 for multiple lines) earns you $415 trade in.
If you select unlimited plus or ultimate you receive I believe it was $830 or higher.
I don't know how to get the trade in through Walmart though.
Without the trade in. The Verizon store is a better deal if you have any old phone to trade in (pixel OG gets you $415). This is for new line. I haven't researched upgrades recently so I can't speak on that.

1) activate new iPhone with AT&T eSim (it's likely already activated before you even receive it).
2) pay off new iPhone from AT&T app
3) on new iPhone, login to your same apple account as on existing iPhone
4) on old unlocked iPhone, go under cellular, add cellular plan, you should see option to transfer eSim from another iPhone (from new iPhone). go ahead and do that! Note: I did this from existing iPhone to iPhone 13 deal 2 weeks ago, using RedPocket GSMA (AT&T).
5) make some calls with the new eSim on old iPhone. wait until it shows active in your AT&T account, and number/iccid assigned to your old iPhone.
6) submit unlock request from AT&T portal for new iPhone. click the link in the confirmation email. Hopefully you receive the unlock confirmation email shortly (could be from a minute to a day).
Once that unlock confirmation email is received, you should be able to "put a different sim" in the new iPhone, that is your existing or new eSim from another carrier. Hopefully someone can test and confirm that this works!

I have never done a Walmart trade in because the attraction of the Walmart deal is the no plan change if you do not trade in. I learned the hard way because billing credits = jail time for that line for 36 months or you forfeit the remaining credits.

Buy the phone you want from Walmart. Make sure you activate the device. Then swap your data on to the new phone. Once everything is there, wipe the old phone.
IMPORTANT! Bring the phone to a Corporate AT&T store and do the trade in. Tell them you just signed up for 36 months and bought a qualifying phone and it has a trade in offer. MAKE NO MENTION OF WALMART.
They will answer the questions and check the phone out. Get a printed receipt. No email. The email doesn't show any information. If the printer they sent the receipt to is out of paper, ask for a screen print or they give you a receipt. Following this will give you peace of mind and save you from any hassle down the line.
From this point on, the responsibility of the phone is with AT&T. AVOID ANY TEMPTATION TO MAIL THE PHONE IN. If the person at the store says you must mail in. Then say you spoke to George on the phone and it can be brought to the store as you don't have any means or capability to mail anything in.
The past 2 trade ins I did, I got the credit within the first month. Two of them to be exact. Once to catch up and the other for the current month. If they rip you off, then you have the receipt to complain to the FCC.
I know I took up time in the store and if it goes smoothly, I will buy a SBUX gift card for the person helping me. If you don't have a trade-in, then Swappa is your friend. My buddy did this and actually got a refurbished phone that had "already" been trade in at AT&T. Circle of life, what are the chances? Had to go to another Corporate Store with a more Senior Person to fix but it got done.
