Requires AT&T service and phone payment plan. You may want to include that in your title.

The best option is do in store only because you can grab the phone and activate it. Then wait for the gift card and cancel the line. Or else I don't see how you can get the gift card on time or cancel within 3 days on time. The problem I found out with iPhone 14 and above is they no longer have SIM card so you can't do the ATT sim trick to activate and request unlock, so you need the VZ account active to setup the phone. And for additional point, Walmart will not allow return for the phone so once you buy the phone, they email you the gift card that's done on their end. You don't have to worry about gift card not delivery even you cancel it. The moment you placed order and it ship it is done.
I'm planning to open a new VZ account, then pay off the iP 14 right away. Do I need to port in my number with them? TiA

this is why it's important to check if your imei/serial is reseller flex. if so, you should be able to activate with verizon sim to guarantee 60 day unlock. I get that this is not ideal, but you could be stuck with a locked AT&T phone otherwise.. we aren't 100% that swapping eSim to unlocked iPhone then requesting unlock will work. the idea is to disassociate the new phone with the new phone number, so that the >60 days active service requirement is waived. this obviously works for existing AT&T customers, but for us newly on AT&T it may not work.
But if phone is activated on ATT, the 60 day timer starts. Or does it need 60 days of active service on ATT .?

You don't need to port in number with them since you are going to cancel the account anyway. Just pay off after you activated the phone, then you can port it out. If you cancel within 3 days they waived activation fees and just own 3 days prorated

I called CS rep multiple times and all of them has the same answer I get from unlock policy -

Paid off early: The wireless number assigned to the device must be active for at least 60 days. Wait 48 hours after you make your final payment to submit your unlock request.

So if your account is new the phone number need to active at least 60 day. And if the account is old then you can request to unlock as a ATT member after phone is paid off.

On android, you can do the sim card trick and unlock your paid off phone in day 1

I did the same thing for iPhone 15 Pro max and didn't see any trade-in prompt. Walmart people are not able to see the trade-in details. They asked me to reach out to AT&T team. It's not worth the hassle. I ended up cancelling the order.
You don't trade in at WM. You trade in at Att. Take it to the store.

Thanks, placed an order with another account and card ... But same Verizon account ... To add a line... Let's see if this works.. last time it came (cancellation) after 2 hrs
Same thing happened to me. I tried 3 times and I cancelled instantly. Talked to CS and they said it was because the name and address it was being send to (the primary name/address that wasn't me or my address) is new to my Walmart account so it won't work. They needed to escalate my issue to remove the block and said it would take 5-24 hours to get removed.

After 5 hours I tried again and it's went through. No cancellation yet and it's been 20 hours now at this point. Luckily it hasn't been sold out or high in demand to the point of door buster style. I'm Verizon with upgrade if that helps.

Surprised these aren't OOS yet. Haven't upgraded in a few years but wasn't this $300gc the deal everyone was waiting for outside in the cold every black friday? Or are there better deals these days for phones

Plan is to get phone, activate, and try to get esim transferred to my android phone. Then iPhone is unaffiliated with plan. Then try unlock. Then cancel plan within 14 day policy. I am still nervous about Walmart not sending the gift card if I cancel service.

Problem is that my phone will arrive after the 3 days.

My phone shows up on my account because the phone was shipped however there is currently no IMEI/serial on my account (at least that I can find, if someone knows where to look please share) My account is asking me to download eSim

Target has 20% off on Apple gift cards?

In reality its more like 17% if you factore in value of TGC. Target has a promo where you buy $100 gift card you get a $15 Target card. Purchasing with red card it costs $95. So you are getting $115 in value for $95 which is 20/115 so it equates as 17% if you value a TGC as cash. I don't because unlike WGC, the $15 gc won't get you 5% on their jacked up prices, so I value it at $14.25. Still close enough though to call it a 17% discount

just so you know ATT policy is not prorated so if it passes 3 days you still have to pay the full month + activation fees.

Be careful with cancelation before you receive the phone. It still need to confirm but i bet all the phone ship to us is flex policy so it need to activate on US cellular network.

Hopefully the eSim swap work, let us know how it turn out. When do you suppose to receive your phone ?
