Edit: AT&T chat is closed on the weekend I called reseller support and they refused to cancel the line and said I had to wait 30 days. I had to port out to another carrier.- Call *PORT on the new iPhone to get a porting pin. You also need your wireless account number (displayed when you login to att.com).

- We haven't found a way to unlock the iPhone 14/15 like we did the 13 because it has an eSIM assigned that gets activated on boot, and no physical SIM card. Also the phones are showing Verizon locked and not flex reseller policy. It will automatically unlock 60 days post activation however.

In the old days we purchased locked AT&T phones (full price, no payment plan), activated on H2O, then requested non-customer unlock from the portal. If we had a friend with AT&T we swapped the SIM (chatted or called AT&T to change the IMEI associated with the SIM card .. for Verizon wasn't necessary, phones would auto-register), made a call, then swapped it back. It sometimes took 2-3 tries, I think the worst was about 2 months, but eventually we got them all unlocked
The problem is I do not think having a friend with ATT more than 60 days will allow you to unlock. I think the phone has to be active on an account for 60 days
While the line was open did you try switching back to the 14 Plus and back to another phone and try again?

I should also add that for Verizon you get 30 days to return your phone (only 14 for AT&T). So if you ordered a Verizon phone you have no risk of not receiving the gift card, you could always return the phone. You would want to wait until you receive the gift card to pay off the phone (or just cancel after receiving the gc and pay the balance on the final bill they generate).
