Requires AT&T service and phone payment plan. You may want to include that in your title.

So, I tried to submit another unlock request today (my ATT account is now cancelled as I ported out my number). I still got the same error message: IMEI not found in ATT database. I chatted with ATT support, and the agent said they will put in a request to add the IMEI to the database, and also advised me to call their support at 800.331.0500. I'll wait before calling them, and just try again in day or two, to see if they actually added my IMEI.

If that doesn't work, I will be looking for a friend who has been with ATT for more than 60 days. If you are the one, PM me. I'll buy you a coffee.
Honestly I think this will work (AT&T adding the IMEI) since it won't be associated with your phone line that is cancelled. You can try the unlock as non-ATT customer and see. Worst case use the >60 days AT&T friend and should go through.

In the old days we purchased locked AT&T phones (full price, no payment plan), activated on H2O, then requested non-customer unlock from the portal. If we had a friend with AT&T we swapped the SIM (chatted or called AT&T to change the IMEI associated with the SIM card .. for Verizon wasn't necessary, phones would auto-register), made a call, then swapped it back. It sometimes took 2-3 tries, I think the worst was about 2 months, but eventually we got them all unlocked Smilie Usually 1st or 2nd attempt goes through.

I might after try to put in a request to enter it in the database. I wonder if I should do that why the IPhone is active on the line

The problem is I do not think having a friend with ATT more than 60 days will allow you to unlock. I think the phone has to be active on an account for 60 days

While the line was open did you try switching back to the 14 Plus and back to another phone and try again?
Yes, I tried it first time by following the steps from Wiki - failed. Transferred the sim back to 14 Plus, and then transferred back to my unlocked iPhone 13. Tried again, failed with the same message. After that, I ported out.

Just tried again now. Looks like they haven't added the IMEI yet. Same error message ("We can't unlock this device because we can't locate it in our database of devices sold by AT&T. Please call us at 800.331.0500 for assistance.")

Magenta plans work for this promo. Just ask the rep at Walmart to check if you're due for an upgrade. They have access to your TMO account once you tell them pin etc.. Good luck!

Wierd, did you make a call with the iPhone 14+ before transferring it to the 13? Usually the phone call guarantees it's been registered with AT&T.

Yes, I followed the steps you mentioned in Wiki. I made a call, and also sent a regular text and also an iMessage. I was able to see the 14+ in my ATT account. After that, switched to my unlocked 13 and repeated the same steps (call / text). Waited until 13 showed up in my account, and then submitted a request. Still, no luck.

So they can easily check if a plan you are on will work with the promo or not? This way you can keep your exsisting plan in place and not be surprised with them moving you over to higher priced plans.

I tried ordering inline but don't get an option to trade in phone. Do I have to order the phone from Walmart and take it to ATT for trade in.

Did you buy in store? It could be that those who ordered online had our phones activated on ship date, so had 2-3 days between doing all the steps. I paid off next day after shipping, received 3rd day then did the remaining steps.

For people ordering online, has anyone received the GC yet? I got the phone unlocked but don't dare to cancel the line before receiving the GC. On the other hand, the GC is from Walmart, not AT&T. Would Walmart know if the line is cancelled?

Honestly keeping it open 30 days is the safest option. Cancelling before receiving the gift card is indeed a risk. The order is fulfilled through Walmart Wireless, so they may (or may not) know. They would certainly know if you returned the phone, since they have to process the return.

I should also add that for Verizon you get 30 days to return your phone (only 14 for AT&T). So if you ordered a Verizon phone you have no risk of not receiving the gift card, you could always return the phone. You would want to wait until you receive the gift card to pay off the phone (or just cancel after receiving the gc and pay the balance on the final bill they generate).

I agree that it is safe to keep the line until receiving the GC. But what's the problem to pay it off or unlock it now?
