Requires AT&T service and phone payment plan. You may want to include that in your title.

I think without paying off the phone, you cannot unlock in since it is not yours yet ...

Just spoke to customer service agent. Since I transferred sim to iPhone yesterday , it locks sim transfer from IPhone back to Android for 72 hours. He said iPhone to iPhone does not get locked as they are done from phone to phone. So if I want to transfer back before Thursday I probably have to go to store again.

I tried to ask if IMEI was in database and told him about the not in database error. He can only see error as with phone attached to line so he cannot see not in database error but he says phone looks like its in database

Dont have time to go to store today but maybe will do one more transfer and try one more time to unlock. Then not sure if it is worth it to just sell locked or trade in or try and return if it fails.
Idea: Once I did a sim swap at an AT&T retail store (with a demo phone). Find a store with iPhones you can play with, if any still exist. You can do the nearby eSIM transfer right there, then flip it back before you leave.

Edit: This would probably be easy to pull off at an Apple store? "I just want to see what the eSIM transfer process is like if I get a new iPhone!" laugh out loud

Just turn it on. It has eSIM and will automatically activate. Do you have AT&T or Verizon? I have an idea on Verizon unlock if you want to try. Basically request another eSIM in the Verizon app and see if it breaks the assigned activation. Then do an eSIM transfer from an existing AT&T/mvno phone. Then request AT&T non customer unlock from their unlock portal.
I have Att connections. What should I follow for ATT?

For people visiting stores recently they still have inventory or are most stores OOS at this point? I'm reading as many comments/instructions as I can but it's 130 pages of comments at this point

Check the community wiki. Based on what others have said, you should pay off the phone then probably wait 24 hours before the esim transfer to the unlocked iphone.

So, to confirm:
- activate a new sim from h2owireless on an unlocked iphone
- do a sim transfer to iphone 14plus
- request unlock as a non at&t customer

Does this sound right? Do I need to transfer esim back to the unlocked phone before requesting unlock ?
One more idea. If you go ahead and purchase the eSIM from h2o, you have to put in the new iPhone IMEI details. Likely this will get pushed to your new iphone at activation time, and it --might-- prompt you which eSIM you want to activate? because either way the iPhone hits the Apple activation servers to retrieve the eSIM. worth a shot! In this way, you do initial activation with the h2o esim. You don't need the verizon one at all.

yes correct. I would see if you can "break" the new iPhone initial activation first. Make sure no cell service and stay off wifi. You need it to prompt you for an eSIM to activate.

Check in the Verizon app if you can re-issue an eSIM for your new iPhone. That could possibly break the one assigned to the iPhone for initial activation.
I tried with h2owireless. The iphone 14 plus with reseller flex didn't activate on that esim. Eventually, started a free trial with verizon esim, checked sickw.com. It shows now the phone is locked to verizon, will wait for 60 days to unlock.

Mind sharing the process you followed? Did you try first boot with no cell service / no wifi then try to get the phone to activate an alternate eSIM? did you buy the h2o esim before turning the new iPhone on? thx

for Verizon you actually want initial activation on AT&T/mvno. So you wanted the eSIM from h2o to be assigned to the new iPhone, not the existing unlocked iPhone Frown

So the phone I received was not activated on any carrier. Upon checking on sickw.com it mentioned that it is US flex reseller policy. This means that walmart did not activate the device (not shown on the verizon account). I was connected to wifi when turned the device on, fwiw.

Later today, i activated h2owireless on another iphone, tried to do a esim activation from nearby phone, but did not work. As I am not in hurry, signed up for free trial, which activTed the phone on verizon. So, after 60 days it should unlock.

So the Ip14 and above is now assign to carrier even if is flex policy ?. is your H2O wiress eSIm that you have an active one ? or just a dummy one you bought at store ?

you will not be able to return the phone, as you full paid off with ATT. their policy strictly states no refund for the phone that is fully paid off even if you are within 14 days.so try again after esim swap and if same error then sell it as lock or sell to your friend so he can trade-in $1000 credit.

hmmmmm.. so flex policy doesnt apply anymore i guess, cause you try the activation process with H2O and doesn't work but work with VZ. Then the issue some member have with their IMEI is not find in carrier database must be relate to this as well. so Walmart has to transfer the IMEI to carrier before ship it out, and that mean the phone is then can only be activated to the assigned carrier.
