Thanks for the reply. Metro is very sneaky as they don't offer the port-in deal online.
They only offer free S23 FE in store. I would not have gone to the store if I am getting a new line. But then the price would have been $100 per phone, which is actually even more...

I already anticipated this kind of hassle would happen in store.
Actually they initially tried to BS me that I had to sign up the $65 plan in order to get a new phone but only reduced the price by 20 (each line) after I showed them the online ad.

I played this game before and won some lose some so I'm used to it.
In 2017 there was that free 1 year Amazon Prime and Galaxy J7 Prime deal for each line at Metro stores. I could have gotten 4 years but ended up with only 1 year of free Prime and 4 free phones. Not as good as expected but still free is free and I sold 3 of those phones on eBay. Really can't complain too much.
Damn! even a veteran has to accept defeat by Metro by T-Mobile store scammers!

Well. I did some number crunching and I believe it's almost the same price online and in store.
Online price: 99.99 + taxes(no port in required) and it would have been 108.25 +40 first month =148.25
In store price: I paid total of 299.5, for two phones. almost exactly the same.
There is no option to port online.
Yes the advertisement is misleading. But in reality it's almost exactly the same.
In store you just have to insist on the $40 plan and show them the ad. Also remember to cancel the device protectio bundle as soon as you get home to save another $5.
They gave me this case which is also worth something.

There is No way to get it for free without visiting the stores...at least as of now.

Imagine you go to Subway for their advertised $5 Footlong, but once you get there you realize you can't walk out the door without having to buy a $3 Soda, $2 bag of chips, $2 Cookie, and a mandatory $5 Tip for the Sandwich Artist....
... that's what has become of Metro Dealers as Corporate keep on squeezing them ...
Shhhh, don't give Subway ideas....

My local subway only accepts the Subway nationwide coupons only if you purchase a drink. Apparently, since all my local Subways are franchised and not corporate stores, they don't have to accept coupons unless it's under their terms. With that, I don't bother supporting my local subways.

This is one of many reasons why Subway stores are closing down (besides crappy but expensive sandwiches).

Once you gave customers bad taste on the food + bad customer service (refusing coupons) = nobody would want to come back.
Now those big heads at corporate are wondering why their brand is dying LMAO.

Yeah last time I went there with a BOGO coupon I couldn't believe how much the subs are now.

I went to a corporate store yesterdy. 2 portin, 2 new lines - activation fee, accessories- total $300.
Interestingly, they didnt provide any receipt. They claimed its broken.
Same thing happened to my friend.

As for the price breakdown, they said phones are $50 each for the S23FE. Other two are free. $25 activation/line. Had to buy some accessories as well.

But... I talked to Metro Customer support and learned that all the phones were free.
The scammy Metro store put me on a $150/4lines plan. Added device insurance $10/line. And $100 for accessories.
So basically they forcefully took $200 more than what is was supposed to cost me. More importantly, without the receipt there is no way to return the accessories.

Note. When I asked the online CSR, she issued a $92 credit on Metro account. The store had charged me $92 extra just on the four lines!

Crazy!!

That's insane! Another true life example of Metros scummy business practices. Better to just deal with their crappy website than get ripped off hard like that. You should file a complaint with the local BBB to make sure they as least have a record of bad business behavior on file.

300 is the same priceI I paid for two lines. Online price is exactly the same at 99x1.0825+40=147 each line when in stock. According to another thread one local store owner claimed he would lose money on those free phones if he doesnt sell those expensive accessories. If true, I feel it is moraally questionable to force them to lose money just to save another 100 per phone. As I already saved 433-110=323. If I add my amex offers the total saving is 338. It would be just the same as buying online. At best buying online only saves the time and gas.

When was the last time this deal was available online? It's been sold out there since launch. I may have to deal with the scummy Metro authorized dealer... to get this deal.

I got the Verizon iPhone 13 Walmart pre-BF deal, but only 1 phone. I plan to give the 13 to my daughter and get this one for myself. I'm coming from an iPhone 11/SE.

Actually, that total sounds about right if you only ported in 2 lines. I got this deal just for one phone, and it was 103.xx out the door. I let the guy add on the $10 insurance because he was very helpful and didn't try to upsell me otherwise.

OTOH, you shouldn't have been charged any activation fees, so you may have a valid claim on that.

The majority of the cost is sales tax, as most states want the tax on the full MSRP of the phone, which is $599, if I recall. If your state is different, then you might have gotten overcharged just for the activation fees.

Edit: Also, the non-BF promo has a limit of 2 instant rebates. the BF promo probably has a similar limit. He might have actually done you a favor and rang them up separately, while still putting you on a family plan. If you got 4 phones plus accessories for under $210 including a month of service, then you got an amazing deal, depending on the taxes.

I was able to get a similar price to yours. $40 plan + $10 insurance + $52.50 taxes = $102.50. I ported 2 lines so total was $205 for both phones OTD. Took about 15 minutes to get everything done. The clerk tried to get me on accessories but wasn't overly pushy. Made sure to get a receipt before leaving. Overall nowhere near as bad as I was expecting.

Not sure what is happening in some stores, but for me this deal is amazing.

I walked into the store with a $15 Verizon wireless number I bought from eBay, walked out with the phone for $40. They tried to push accessories but, although upset, ultimately relented.

Will use it for the free month, then bin it for 5 months until it unlocks. Smoking hot deal.
