What brand of TV do you have? I've heard people having problems with the Vizio just needing to be unplugged after a while to resolve the issue, unless you have it connected to a Vizio TV. Because I have a Samsung TV, I'm hesitant to get this Vizio soundbar.

By any chance did you apply firmware updates? Apparently that's also a hassle because the soundbar needs a lot of help and a separate computer/USB stick to do the manual update. I'm not sure if the firmware updates help the Vizio soundbar better interoperate with Samsung TVs, or resolve the other weird issues that require periodically unplugging and replugging the soundbar?

Vizio has major issues. Check Reddit for more info.

I bought this exact soundbar and used it VERY LIGHTLY for about a year.

It once day just refused to turn on.

Caveat emptor when it comes to Vizio.

Outta the box and installed. Watched the new top gun and was mesmerized. I didn't install any new firmware thinking... (dont fix it if it ain't broken). I'm thinking about buying this just for our game room.

I thought this would be lower too as I think it's now 18-24 months old.

*So yea, this was $300 multiple times in August/September of 2021. I know it's a great system, but I personally can't imagine paying more than $300 for it now.

I have the older version and tons of problems. It only turns on with the TV about 50% of the time, necessitating a reboot of either the bar or the tv etc. Always had problems and they stopped updating in the FW on my old version years ago despite all the issues, which is insane.

Now I'm pretty much stuck, it's not worth 350 to solve the issues when it works sometimes (assuming this new version would even solve the issues). Have also thought about buying a cheap 5.1 thats at least reliable but I dont want to give up Atmos (even though I dont even know when its on TBH).

And yes also I was surprised at the pricing, I just assumed after some yrs atmos bars would be dirt cheap by now. Guess inflation gottem cus they arent.

I've had 3 diff Vizio bars. Never had a problem. I'm not a shill by any means. But I Def see plenty of posts of ppl having problems. Kinda makes me not want to buy another one. Even tho I've had good luck.

Yeah this is the about the same for me. I have an LG OLED tv. The only minor issue that I've experienced is that might take a couple of seconds for the soundbar to wake back up after turning on the tv, but this doesn't bother me. I haven't had to do any power cycling either.

With the extended return period for the holiday season, you have 2 months to put it through the paces. I watched Dune on this and the surround sound directionality was great and immersive. For those of you complaining that the price hasn't dropped more after 2 years is a testament to the fact the sound quality holds up well to its competition.

Every 5.1 set I've tried in the $250–500 range has its weaknesses, whether it's weak/overpowering subwoofer, weak rear speakers, firmware issues etc. I guess YMMV depending on what tv setup you have and what your expectations are.

I used this bar on my Sony x900h and worked great. Now have an lg b2 77" oled and works just as well. I agree that the $250-$500 is kind of the best bang for ur buck Soundbar price range. I just can't justify the $800+ bars and you really getting that much more for your money. Maybe I guess. If I'm spending that kinda scratch I'd prob invest in an actual home theater setup. Which I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do soon after my garage renovation.

Keep in mind guys, if you want sensitive electrical equipment to last long, plug them into a UPS. Iv had a Harman Kardon enchant soundbar so far for over 6 years no issues.

Thanks, but what does the .2 do for a system? I've read up on it but don't quite get it.

The .2 is two additional speakers in the bar that are upwards firing.

I owned both Vizio bars; 5.1 and 5.1.2 and there is not noticeable difference. Get the 5.1 if you want to save. Get the 5.1.2 if you want these additional speakers that has very little effect.
