i just bought this to change my air filters and some higher shelves. if you plan on using it FOR ANYTHING ELSE this is NOT the ladder for you. It's plastic and does not feel safe.

I saw an all metal version at costco for $5-7 more. get that.

I'd have to disagree with you. I have the same one (from back in the golden age a couple years ago when it was slick for $10) and it feels plenty sturdy.
I'm not going to do plyometrics workouts on it but I've done SEVERAL OTHER THINGS besides stand on it to change a filter.
That being said, it's solid but nothing special. Didn't think it was slick for $25 but decent for $20 if that's the best you can do these days.

This isn't a ladder. It's a step up (no pun intended) from a simple stool. Get it for the people that like to use chairs just because they're convenient. I got one of these for the MIL for Xmas a few years ago because she was one of those chair people. I have something similar to this on each level of my home so there's no excuse for stacking shit to climb on only to fall and get hurt.

I have 3 of these from the $10 deal a few years ago as well. They wobble and pop randomly. I hate them.
I still use them. But I hate them.
The steps are plastic and the mechanism to lock/unlock it. They just feel really cheap and do not inspire confidence. They havent broke but I'll be standing on one and it shifts and you hear a popping noise. Not even close to 200 pounds. My husband is also under 200. 🤷🏼 ♀️
To clarify, there is different version of the Gorilla Ladders 225lb load capacity such as 3 step 2.4" storage depth 8.9" max reach footstep at $24.99 on sale a week ago, a 3 step 2.25" storage depth 8.8" max reach with on sale this week at homedepot and there are very different. The first one is sturdy and I even use to step on the top handle to reach my attic while the second one is flimsy and far lighter and I would probably think twice before stepping on its top handle. I weight 175 lbs

Any easy way to tell the difference while at the store? Different color, model number, etc?

The first one has its step in dark grey with white edge all around and its tubular frame appears to be thicker.

The one that was a frontpage deal for $24.88 is the same model number and SKU. Is there another one? Can you provide a link for the better one?

My guess is that they were able to get the $50 step ladder for $25, which would have been a great deal.

are you sure the steps are plastic?

I may have an older version of this but the steps feel metal to me. Otherwise this wouldn't be as heavy as it is.
I have two. The frame is metal but the part that connects the frame is plastic. Let's see how long it will alst.

I like these. I've have them for a few years. The steps are metal.

I've got two at my home and one in my classroom.

Got one for mom's place too.

I think I got them for $10 in 2019 BF and $15 in 2021 BF.

I used one of these in a commercial kitchen. The metal tubing rusted out in a few years most likely due to degreaser contact. Tried to get a lifetime warranty replacement with Gorilla and they made me jump through so many hoops I gave up on it. Bought one of the aluminum ones instead and it held up much better.

Got this for $8.88 10 years ago. I'd hold out until inflation drops.
