Works great for sweating in / soldering copper pipe. I've used this with MAP gas to replumb two new water heaters, (noisy) inline heat traps, and a few inline brass shut off valves.

I primarily use it to start charcoal for the grill. Works well in combination with a chimney that has ~dime size holes near the bottom and up the sides.

I have both MAP-Pro and some left over Propane gas tanks from an entry level propane torch combo set. MAP-Pro gas flame tip is slightly hotter and can be used upside down.

Amazon shows I purchased this exact item in 2016 for ~$39.97. I also purchased one from Lowes a few years back on sale at around ~40 as a gift for my father.

Note - The original MAPP gas was a different combination of flammable gases and is no longer generally available.

Just saw Bernzomatic TS8000 Trigger Start Torch for $33.97 on Amazon. I got mine few months ago for $40, and that was a FP deal. This is even better:

It'll work well, it's got an adjustable flame. Most use a smaller butane torch for food.

Would definitely buy again at this price. Got mine in June for $39.xx and use it for lighting pellets in a smoke tube as well as burning scorpions to a crisp (outside on a nonflammable surface)

That depends on if you use MAPP gas or propane. MAPP gas can be used upside down with this.

MAPP gas normally comes in a yellow canister where propane comes in a blue canister.

Definitely good to have. At this price it is a no-brainer.
Sadly, the benefits from having a second one are slim to none.

this is great. I been using the cheap one that does not have trigger start and its been a hassle when sweating copper for work since I cant control flame with 1 hand.
