This tool set doesn't come with the case. It come with case, if you buy this model "DeWalt DWMT45226H 226 pc. Mechanics Tool Set w/ ToughSystem Large Case". The model "DeWalt DWMT45226H" look like it's using case "DEWALT TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 Tool Box DS300 Large". That case is normally price about $85. I found the best price sale right now around $60 without shipping cost, but you could pickup for free near by store.

Ordered two sets from Amazon and both boxes arrived ripped, beat up and bulging in the centers. Opened them up and there were sockets and broken tray fragments all over the place. 5 out of 6 trays were broken and I was missing two sockets in one set and 4 sockets and an extension in the other. I would make one good set and return the other, but they trays are unusable.

I have a Harbor freight 5 drawer rolling toolbox. These tray lips can be trimmed and they fit perfectly with several combos going in multiple drawers and locations.

I like that they added an extra lip all around each tray for what seems to be this purpose.
What is the depth of the drawers in your box? I was hoping to keep two of the trays in my HF rolling cart, but looks like that is not to be. I'm wondering if it could work if they were trimmed...

FYI mine arrived today and they put the damn things in upside down. I have shit one box all over the floor of my damn office.

Check your box when you open it and don't be an idiot like me.
Yup...same thing happened to me. They put lable on the bottom side of box...so it was handle carefully upside down 🤣🤣

Here's a nice idea for storage in a tool box.

That guy did an awesome job w customizable rails! Thanks for link👍

For my use case, this approach is better than having it all in a portable tool case that weighs a gob.

HD has the 19-piece Husky socket extensions, adapters and universal joints set in their Special Buys display for $24.97. This might help address some of the missing items vs the coveted Dewalt 192-piece set in the blow-molded case. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky.../320379664

So what's the consensus, this or the 192 piece set?

So what's the consensus, this or the 192 piece set?
from my early post:

Socket wise this set is a little less than the 192

here is the difference I saw
1/4 deep sockets This set skips 5/32 while 192 set skips 7/32

3 extension instead of 9. (extension from this set is not enough for spark plug change, I could recommend buying the extension set from HF for $10 (with coupon code 72610488) if you going to work on spark plug change)
https://www.harborfreight.com/wob...+extension

No increase or decrease socket size vs 192 set having 3 (I actually a bit annoyed that the 192 set doesn't have a 3/8 to 1/2 increase socket, I was going to grab an increase/decrease set from HF for $5 https://www.harborfreight.com/hig...62851.html)

No Hex or Torx bit set.
If you need those
there is a LEXIVON Trox socket set for $16 (https://a.co/d/htvp2vO).
The Hex socket set doesn't have any good deals so far. if you don't need it immediately then you can wait for the LEXIVON hex socket set on sale (https://a.co/d/c7pSrIC)
Those two sets will give more complete hex and torx sets than the 192 set have

No 1/4 Universal Joint.

1 spark plug vs 3 spark plug. the 5/8 sparkplug is enough for most car changes.

then it is down to whether you are going to keep your set in the tool chest/cart or not.

if you are going to put it into a tool chest/cart then this set is perfect since it comes with trays. if not maybe 192 is a better storage option for you since the set is in molded case.

so this set isn't perfect, you will probably invest $5-60 dollar more to have everything depending on your needs. So the real factor is do you prefer this set in a tool chest or in a molded case.

I got mine and a few of the sockets and pieces were bounced out in the top tray but all there. Upon closer inspection though the 1/4" ratchet torque direction switch is broken off on my set. I contacted CPO about getting just that tool replaced (and sent them a picture) and got this response:

Thank you for contacting CPO!

We understand that the 1/4" ratchet in your tool-set is broken out of the box. Unfortunately, we do not process replacements for eBay orders. Returning the item will result to a full refund.

Please let us know if you would like to proceed.

If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

CPO Customer Care
Supposedly these tools have a lifetime warranty, but I went to the DeWalt website and couldn't readily see how to register my purchase or get a replacement ratchet.

Realistically for the price I paid I got my money's worth regardless, but I think these may be sets may be customer returns given the condition of mine and that of some others.

Any advice on getting a warranty replacement for my broken ratchet would be appreciated.

I have the Toughsystem 2.0 rolling box (DWST08450) and a Toughsystem open tote (DWST08205) on top of it.

The three ratchet trays fit perfectly and SNUGLY into the open tote as shown here: https://imgur.com/a/mpUDcGL

So snugly, that it'll be hard to remove the bottom tray when I want to.

Hoping that all three will fit that snugly into a Toughsystem (not Toughsystem 2.0) large tool box.

As Texfinn said, I didn't even need these, but what a bargain. Damned Slickdeal effect.

Wow. Just got my 226-piece Dewalt set ordered from this eBay seller, and can honestly say this is hands down the best deal of anything I've ever found and bought on Slickdeals! Thanks for that! The set is excellent quality and should cover every bolt I need to tighten or unscrew for the rest of my life! It's going to replace 20 years of random hodge-podge sockets and bits!

A couple downsides: 1) Packaging could use improvement. The box stayed intact but all the sockets were strewn around all over the place. 2) I'll need to keep my full standard and metric wrench sets - only includes a very basic set of wrenches. 3) Will need to find drawers or a container to store this in. I have a couple nice Craftsman old school tool boxes, but they won't fit. I'd prefer drawers but might just bite the bullet and get the Dewalt box.

I can't fathom why these aren't packed with some kind of wrap to keep pieces in place. My eBay order is going back. Reordering from Amazon in hopes of at least getting trays that aren't cracked.

Yeah, +1 that once you find the right method to contact DeWalt should get you taken care of right away. Last year I got an angle grinder with a broken guard. I DMed them on Twitter and they immediately sent a replacement no questions asked, but it turned out to be the wrong size for my grinder. I let them know and they just sent me a whole new grinder. Took a bit but they obviously cared about getting me squared away.
