I wish I'd done my homework before I bought two of these last time they were on sale. The touchpad on one of them went bad just after the return period. (it developed a large "dead spot"). Asus tech support and warranty service is absolutely useless. It took hours of time on the phone just to get an RMA, and the laptop has now been sitting with them for over a month.

Apparently, their terrible support is legendary. Just read the top few posts on the Asus Reddit forum to get a sense of what you're on for if you buy one of these.

If I take mine in for a price adjustment (bought at $999), does the warranty period restart? It's sitting in the box waiting for Christmas and burning up the warranty.

Edit: Since I've received a couple of answers that were less than helpful, maybe I should rephrase my question. When BestBuy does a price adjustment, do they process it as a return and a new purchase which would include the issuance of a new receipt with a new purchase date? I'm hoping this is the case so that the warranty period restarts since I will have had the computer sitting unused and in it's original packaging for two months before it ever gets used. Am I somehow wrong for wanting the warranty period to change?

It probably started the day you bought it, most do.

IDK... My personal opinion... any laptop near $1K should be at least 400 nits !
For the price, its a pretty good compromise for a 4070 rtx. Everything in this price point has been 4060 or equivalent. 300 nit is plenty bright in most situations unless you are working next a window with direct sun hitting the screen.

I do wish it had a higher res screen but it will do.

I have this and the previous 3060 models from last year that work great for instant lan party with friends.

Got this last week as an open box.
Hate the unintuitive Asus software on it.
Screen flickers sometimes.
Freezes for ~ a second in games when I press CAPS (for mic).
It's going back

Would a price adjustment void any cash back sites you used? Think I used a cash back site and my Chase Freedom card. Thanks

You can try turning off the mux feature to reduce freezing when swapping apps

Bought this yesterday at $999 so going to get a price adjustment. Got all set-up this morning and I like it. All that I've seen in this price range had the prior year RTX cards. This is going to be more for photo/video file editting, surfing, streaming, and occasional gaming so I think I'm going to keep this at this price, unless theres some other laptop deal with these specs that just blows my mind

Switching from years on the Microsoft Surface line and although I like their devices they were getting pricey for just a basic set-up.
