I've tried using an arcade stick for retro games but it just wasn't as accurate as a controller. Although it does feel good smashing the buttons.

I think I would want wireless at this point unless it's always set up. Would take up a lot of space

If you care about playing competitive fighting games, customization, build quality or input lag, this stick is leagues ahead of it. It has sanwha parts which is pretty much the gold standard for fight sticks and arcade cabinets.

If you just want to do mame related stuff, the 8bitdo would be fine and you really wouldn't notice what you are missing. Wireless fight sticks are extremely uncommon and this is probably the only one I know of that exists unless you modify an originally wired one

I bought both. But I have not tried the Monoprice one yet... But what @pandanub said is pretty accurate to what I'm expecting.

This is much better quality, though it is not wireless. The buttons and the joystick are Sanwa, which are excellent, where the 8bitDo are just cheap plastic.
