My last advice is to not mix different generations and LED types. Getting a Generation II like above is what I have and I love it.

I strongly suggest you go with the RGBW version. The regular RGB does a terrible job at replicating white. And they can't be cross grouped (RGB doesn't group with RGBW).
The "default" white with the RGB lights is too blue for me. Add some yellow and they look perfect if you want the warm white look. I don't understand ANY complaints about the lack of RGBW. You CAN achieve very close to the warm white light look with the RGB lights.
Overall Ive been very happy with my twinkly lights both indoors and outdoors but it is expensive. I have no doubt that when their patents expire there will be a plethora of camera mapped lighting solutions available for cheap and have more features.
