MiniLED paired with VA gives much higher contrast ratio than MiniLED paired with IPS. If you want close to OLED level of blacks without the burn in from OLED, you want to go with VA MiniLED.
Because VA panel that Samsung uses have poor viewing angles (but with the benefit of much higher contrast ratio than IPS panel). So the curvature will mitigate the poor viewing angle a bit, especially for something like 32 inch monitor.
Until Asus releases their 32" 4K 240hz OLED monitor in Q1/Q2 2024 (Estimated $1,500) this is the best 4k gaming experience money can buy if you want your fps higher than 120hz (LG C2). I own a C2 and this G8, if you have a desktop pc with a (AMD 7900xtx/ Nvidia 4090) you can easily take advantage of the full potential of this monitor, the results are stunning. This Micro LED panel isn't far off the inky black levels of my C2 OLED. Very close actually.
Reports of scanlines are generally overblown. They are noticeable if you go looking for them when set to 240hz with regular desktop use but certainly never noticeable during gaming.
Thanks OP, I grabbed a 2nd! At this price it's a no brainer.

WHY does Samsung love curved monitors so much? I wish they'd stop showing off and make some normal flat monitors with these features.

Panel type = VA
Absolutely not worth it... Would not get it if it was $100...
That's a very misinformed take.

How does the picture quality compare to the c2? I missed the c1 picture quality when I went to the old g7 monitors. Curious about what the new Neo is like. Unfortunately, I will hold off for a year or 2 to see how the oled monitors do.

Because large VA panels viewed from a close distance (PC usage rather than watching a TV from the couch) suck if not curved, due to the color shift viewed off-angle.
lmao not a single one of you can detect 240 frames a second
Idk I've been using 240hz. Switching back and forth between it and a 144hz I will say it's difficult to tell just by looking, maybe side by side I could but definitely not playing at one frame rate and then moving to the next.
However it definitely feels different while playing. Very responsive and smooth. It's almost absurd how responsive it feels.

Mine just shipped, $280 is a no brainer compared to problematic G8
