What's a nearby zip? I'm going to try price matching at Microsoft. Thanks.
Not sure if these zip codes will work since all local stores are OOS. But it still shows available for shipping. Here are the zip codes. 96789, 96797, 96707, 96814, and 96782.

Sold out. Unlike Walmart, Amazon one sells out pretty quick.
The regular (non-Diablo) is still $349 for me on Amazon.

As long as Sony is moving consoles they won't do this. MS probably didn't get the sales they was hoping for this far in the holiday season and the new rev is coming. Dropping the price now is a smart move but I doubt it's permanent.

I still have my TouchPad. Have not turned it on in a while. I should dust it off and turn it on.
Don't ever factory reset it. The servers are shut down so if you do it becomes a paperweight.

I don't plan to. I picked it up last night. It needs charging so I guess I'll dig up the charging stand.

It's bc they just updated the price to $349 at Amazon console only. Take it they liquidate all the walmart Xbox's first and now amazon. All retailers will be selling them for $349 before Christmas

I think the crazy part about this is how Series X discounts have brought in down so close to Series S prices. Objectively, the Series X should just cost more. It has a disc drive ($10), 512 GB more SSD ($15), 6 GB more GDDR6 memory ($20), and much larger GPU (~$100 - this one is hard to know the price on). But we're getting a Series X for $100 more than the best deal we can get a Series S for. That's crazy!

I'm really confused why these are going for so cheap. If it were just Microsoft trying to sell consoles at a loss to get subscription revenue, then surely they'd be selling it cheaper at their own store. Now that we see it on Walmart and Amazon and for so long, there must just not be much demand there.

How do you change the zipcode when searching for the product on Walmart? Thanks!

Yeah my guess as well. I believe the refresh will have 2TB and a new controller right? But I believe the performance won't change.

Walmart gets volume deals that nobody else does. It's always possible Microsoft sold them all of the remaining inventory at a nice discount.
I can't imagine them re-spinning the internal chips on a new (more efficient) technology node. I work in the industry and the economics of moving from one node to another (e.g. 7nm to 5nm) just don't work unless you need the performance or have a huge volume. While you might think that XBox represents huge volume, the truth is that most of the units have already been sold.

The cost for initial production of the newest nodes is extremely high ($10M+) just to order the masks. The only caveat here is that if AMD can simply take an existing chiplet and put it in the XBox, they could potentially provide increased efficiency without a new mask set. Otherwise, Microsoft would need to sell 10s of millions of units to make up for the high initial costs of doing the die-shrink.

All of this to say, I would guess that we won't get something like the XBox One S, which was smaller and more efficient. Instead, we will likely just get the next generation of consoles in 2025 or 2026. You're right to say that if anything changes it will be the SSD. SSD prices have fallen dramatically and going to 2TB would be an easy refresh from a design standpoint.

Ugh… they made like 10 moves way before this. Hence there's no need for them to discount like this.

Confusing comment.
Well I guess their move is to do nothing ?
