I guess it's relative, but the amount of time and effort to do this sounds way too much. Hauling the washer back, disassembling, and then you have the headache of needing to dispose of all the leftover material. Throw in some money for metal stands/legs (because not all of us have these just laying around), how much are you actually saving once you consider everything? Also aesthetically, I'm sure the Solo Stove looks better than what 90% of people will build.

It's really not that big a deal. I bought one at this price last summer when it went on sale, I can get through 4- 5 fires without having to clean out as the wood burns to fine ash which one person can pickup and dump out. I finish up with a shop vac and it's a piece of cake.

I'd pull the trigger if you're thinking about it, heck it's Costco return it if you don't like it after you buy.

Get a handle and carry it to a place, such as a garden, a field, or a lawn, and flip it upside down. Done. I usually collect the ash as fertilizer. As long as you don't burn plastics, it's safe to use

I will be honest, for me, one of the best things about having a fire going outside is the burning wood smell.

Cuz this is a sales forum where (in this case 35#) products are generally delivered to you and not a DIY forum for people who want/can fit a washing machine (which weighs a wee bit more) into their vehicle I'd guess. (Or maybe because they all noticed he missed the whole clean the outside of the drum aspect which MUST be done before you light it on fire unless you've got a noxious fumes kink.)

Also, can't find any $50 working codes at solo stove. Is that promo over?

Purchased a 20" like this from Aldi's for $40 this summer. Hell of a deal, not a solo but still smokeless and matte black.

Does anyone have a great hack on a heat deflector for these? I've seen youtubers make some out of a stainless steel 14 gauge pizza pan and add legs to it. Apparently they make a huge difference in dispersing the heat out instead of it going straight up.

That's a referral program and only works at solo site, not on Costco.

Right. I was trying to get a code, to use at solos site, but codes never come by email after I signup.

Can you use this on a deck - wood or composite? Assuming they sell a stand or a platform you have to put this on?
Mine came with the stand. I've been using it for years on a painted wood deck with no issues at all. I can even touch the stand (not the actual stove) with my hand and it's only just slightly warm to the touch after burning for hours.

Because it's a pain in the ass and no where near the same. I did it last summer after my parents upgraded washing machines. It lasted 3 fires and I put it on the side of the road with a free sign. Now own a Yukon 2.0 and it's 1000% worth it compared to a washing machine disassemble and disposal 🤣

Even with a stand, it can be a fire hazard. Wanted to see if there were any other ways folks have placed this on their deck - cinder blocks, etc. Thanks for your input, d*ckhead
Then you should have clarified, certainly looked as if you didn't bother reading.

I've used it on a wood deck for 5 years now, zero issues and I've got 3-4' flames raging out of the top for hours at a time as we reduce the burn pile for fun.

I've also got a huge fire extinguisher nearby, but even with burning wood that pops and sends cinders onto the deck, never been an issue.
