Settle down people. Its $350 on Amazon. Dont get razzle dazzled with the regular $749 tag at adorama

Checking listed and solds on ebay there is an alarming number of this model listed right now for parts only with various problems like error codes.

It could be a good deal but it could be not great.

I'm probably going to get flac for this but I see a lot of nonsense going on here. There is not going to be noticible audio differences or video differences between receiver brands, given similar DAC and amplifier specs. In the same price class, they are all going to use the same burr brown DACs. These units all put out <.08%THD so by definition the only differences have to lie in that .08%. This is a commodity market. The only real differences are aesthetic and feature set. So find the best price, regardless of brand, that has the feature set for YOU. Sometimes processing can suck, all of them have an off switch. Anyone who says "x" brand sounds terrible most likely needs to look at their room, their setup, or their own prejudice.

You can just call the manufacturer and have them fix/replace

I got an onkyo a couple years ago, NGL it has been pretty sucky compared to Denon and Yamaha units I've used in the past.
Mine which is the 6100 with a little more power and THX distinction has been great. I did replace it and will move it to my game room as I'm going to use the Denon 3800 for my external ampliflier. That is basically the only reason I replaced it as my main receiver otherweise it has great sound and no 2.1 hiccups.

If a 8K 7.2 amp sells for $299 then a 8K 9.2 should not cost more than $399 yet those sell for a premium.

Looking at the reviews for the $350 one on Amazon it looks like that is refurbished or open box.

Amazon item number B09QXXSL7H is refurbished.

Amazon item number B09MGBLMMD is new.

Most recent Slickdeals thread of this amp at $299 about a month ago with a lot of discussion.

Another thread 5 months ago at $350

Same price as the new WiiM Amp. Yes, I know these are completely different products but is there any reason to get the WiiM Amp and not the onkyo if size isn't an issue? Hmm

Could you quantify the "suckiness"? The Yamaha I bought last year has been terrible at voice audio and I'm looking for an alternative.
I had a Yamaha, Onkyo, and a Denon in the past. Denon was pretty good overall. By far the best receiver I have ever owned is my Pioneer Elite.

Deal dead? Shows $749.

Edit: nevermind, need to click thru link. I went directly to Adorama and searched for the product. I hate it when retailers do this.
I wonder why that happens? Did SD do a special? Can anyone educate me on this? Direct adorama price is 750.

I didn't love the Onkyo I got after having Yamaha for years. I do have to imagine models make a difference, but I went back to Yamaha. Recently found an incredible deal and went to a 4K capable Yamaha.

Got it delivered and love it. Made a 5.1 with Infiniti Sub in Master bedroom and made the bath room as Zone 2.

Tech support is AMAZING!!! They helped me on an almost 2 hour call to get it setup and fully understand various functions. Very impressed! 1st Onkyo but already love it. Now need to fine tune it. Been a Pioneer guy for 2 decades.

Anyone knows how this "Costco specific" model is getting sold by adorama?

I work in the industry, so I have insight into your question, but it's a long answer. Message me if you want to know more rather than clog up this thread with boring industry contract info.

They created 2 links for a product, to create a "big sale". It is on sale compared to other retailers, but not >50% off. More like $90 off compared to amazon, and it has been on sale at this price a few times.

Awesome deal. I bought this same model for $399 at Costco this past summer. I'm coming from a NR509 I purchased back around 2009. That unit had the HDMI switch issue which I had to RMA for a fix, but other than that I had been using it daily until switching to the NR6050. This new one sounds quite a bit better, shows on nugs.net sound pretty phenomenal with a good soundboard feed.

The biggest issues have been screen flickering and losing audio. I've tested my setup with different cords and receivers and the Onkyo has been the only one with those issues. I've reset everything to factory and still can't make it through a 20 minute TV show without issue.

And it has intermittent issues with arc.

Maybe I just have a faulty unit, but I've been very unimpressed
I just got mine (10 days ago bc of this deal) and also got the screen flickering and loss audio, then smoke started to coming out of it lol. I sent it back for a replacement, probably faulty unit.
