Bi-directional USB-C PD charging at 100 Watts (65 Watts with the included adapter). You can charge pretty much anything with a USB-C port from your battery, or charge your battery from multiple sources. Like a USB-C PD car charger, or your laptop charger, etc. It's a really neat piece of gear, it's just a bit over priced.
Getting real close to me pulling the trigger, still wish they sold the bare usb c cradle part for about 40 bucks though
Well, 100w USB-C chargers are pretty pricey on their own. They constantly go FP for over $35, many without a cable. 100w rated usb-c cable isn't too cheap too.

Then this one has a specialty adapter that lets you charge DeWalt batteries with it and also charge other devices with your battery.

I'd say $55 is pretty fair for that.

That being said, I'd really like to just buy the adapter (which I agree is pretty cheap to make) and use my existing 100w USB-C chargers.

Exactly. If it was an 120vlt inverter it might be worth it. I have an Ego inverter with usb ports and i think it was about the same price, and its going to last 10 times longer with those batteries.
Yes, and no. Mostly No. 10 times longer? Let's say you have a 2Ah 56V eGo battery, that's 112 Wh. With a 5Ah 18V Dewalt battery, that's 90 Wh. Use the newer tech 6Ah instead, that's 108 Wh, almost the same. I don't see any 10x there. The eGo system is a large form-factor needing a lot more space and weighing more. Also it won't charge the battery from a USB or 12V source as this one will.

They are both good, useful systems, but not the same thing at all, and saying things like 10x is just completely wrong and misleading.

I have this and am very happy with the performance. I work in a lot of disaster areas and have plenty of DeWalt batteries. For the people complaining about the price perhaps this isn't the right device for you. I find a lot of value with this setup.

The part that snaps onto the battery is bidirectional; besides being able to accept power for charging DeWalt batteries, it can also *output* power to other devices... Including some *laptops*, because it's capable of 100W (!) output via USB-C. Maybe not worth it if you don't need that much charging power, but not many power banks can output 100W.
Am i missing something? sorry. is it basically a powerbank that can output 100W?

If i already have 100W charger and 100W powerbank thats basically it? (Though it seems this can attach to different battery packs but that seems to defeat the purpose of being light?)

Really useful in the toolbox, travel bag & emergency backup power. 65W power will charge the DeWalt batteries and power a laptop. Wall charger prongs don't fold down and the charger gets super hot. Device really needs two USB-C ports instead of the just one (this would let you charge the battery AND power a laptop at the same time. When buying USB cables buy the PD (power delivery) cable to do USB-C super charging. The USB-A port is for using connectors like lightning, micro & mini to charge your phones like a regular charger (you can do this while also charging the DeWalt battery.

It's not supposed to be light with battery, It's supposed to turn dewalt batteries folks already have Into a very large and powerful usb-c PD power bank. Joe construction guy can run his laptop all day with one of his dewalt batteries laying around if he has a decently power sipping laptop for example without having to run his truck to run an inverter or what not.

Your 100w power bank is useless once depleted. This can run as long as you have another battery. You could use this for weeks without recharging if needed.
Same reason power tools have swappable batteries, you can keep going without waiting for a recharge.

Same reason I wouldn't own an electric car, well at least until they are fusion powered or use a quantum drive.

Why are you comparing a 2ah ego to a 6ah DeWalt?

Don't charge one bank with another, that's wasteful and dumb. It will also help avoid running into this issue. For all other cases, the charge controllers in the USBC ports will generally be able to deduce which device should be getting power and which should be giving it.
Obviously I'm just giving an extreme example but the curiosity in me is asking. I wonder if it's the battery size of the plugged in device that determines who's the source vs sink. Like a giant laptop battery could be bigger than a 2 ah Dewalt battery so in that scenario does the laptop charge the tool battery? Just like when I plug my phone into my laptop, the laptop will slow charge the phone, not the other way around.

Unless you drive over 200 miles a day, home charging an EV overnight is as good as swapping in fresh batteries in the morning.

Clearly this is more geared for on the site work when you have a million dewalt batteries in your truck and dont need to carry another "powerbank" like an Anker. If you dont need this, move on with life. Dewalt batrtries are pretty beefy, and if you have alot of them in the truck, you have plenty of options to use the power. Also having the ability to charge the dewalt battery with a USB-C cable is pretty nifty vs the huge standard charger if you have an emergency bag.

They must have consulted Apple on the pricing.

I paid just a little bit more and use this for a mobile soldering station with the Minware TS101. That soldering iron heats up real quick and this is a nice setup since I already am a yellow tool guy.
