This is the LSX first version which suffered from lots of connections issues, especially with Apple AirPlay.
This is gen one. You can easily find used + good condition at around 300-400.
Great deal from a reputable source.

I got these as a gift couple years ago. Connectivity is good as long as it is paired to your phone. Sound is good and if you have a sub then it will be amazing. I dont personally use them much. I live in an apartment and i dont like my neighbors know what i listen to.

Yup. Had both. While admire LSX, it's overkill for desk office, and arguably too small for main room listening. For an apartment, it's a good fit, though subwoofer does do A LOT. Lastly, don't recommend for home theatre.

LSX app is terrible. LSX II is fantastic but identical hardware

They'll sound better than pretty much any basic 2.0 system you get off Amazon like Logitech and Razor. However, a lot of the non-2.0 systems also come with an included Subwoofer, which can make a huge difference. You'd have to source your own sub with this, which is money and configuration.
For gaming, subpar. I pair my KEF LS50WII's with the Razer soundbar and sub. You need a sub for gaming.

Now I could just add a sub like kc62, but the 50's are plenty on my desk. Music is also great from KEF.

I suppose you could, but it seems like such an inferior way on an active speaker.

They do. The Aux is 3.5mm TRS, which performs exactly the same as RCA. They're both unbalanced stereo connection. The only difference is dimensions. But that can be resolved with a $7 (or cheaper) cable [amazon.com].

Unless by "traditional speaker inputs", you mean binding posts/terminals, but those are for passive speakers. They're pointless on powered speakers.

I guess you can ignore the active crossover I suppose.

Active crossover still works. There are also reported sync issues. Wires get rid of sync issues.

Active speakers are self-amplified. They can still use a passive crossover and be active speakers.

That's not what you said, though? You said you wished it had traditional inputs. It does! It has old fashioned analog input.

If you want wired speakers, AKA passive, that 's a different product. Kef makes those, too. Go buy them. There's nothing missing. You're just looking at the wrong product.
