Lol. No. You do not. I have no idea where you're getting that info. For uncompressed Atmos, you need eARC. You absolutely get Atmos through plain ARC, without HDMI 2.1, albeit compressed. Stop spouting misinformation. Atmos has been around since before HDMI 2.1. Are you saying no one got Atmos for the first 5 years that it existed? The vast majority of TVs don't even have 2.1 or eARC. You're saying hardly anyone can get Atmos, which is completely false. Before I had my LG C2, I had a crappy LG LED 4K TV, with an Atmos soundbar system that only had ARC, not eARC, and I got Atmos through it. It was compressed, so it didn't sound as good, but it was still Atmos. You're basically telling me that all of the overhead sounds that I heard weren't actually there. Lol. A lot of low to mid tier Atmos soundbar systems don't have eARC. You're either making stuff up as you go along, or you've been very misinformed. Either way, you're straight up wrong, and I'm not wasting anymore time with you. I just hope other people don't listen to you. You have no idea what you're talking about.
This tv is regularly priced at 550, not really a screaming deal but still a solid price for a 60 hz OLED
You don't need 2.1 for Dolby Digital Plus or Atmos. Lol. 2.1 is needed for 120hz gaming, but this TV is only 60hz anyways. Whatever sound system you get just has to have support for Atmos and Digital Plus, and then you just use the regular HDMI Arc port, and you'll get both. It's optical that can't support Atmos or Digital Plus.

What's the current best bang for the TV on the market now? Missed out on the Black Friday sales and my TV just went out.

Lg oled Bs or Cs. Any year as long as they have pixel shift and 120hz if that's what you're looking for. Any of the other oleds are derivative will be less of a value. If you aren't looking for oleds then youll have to narrow it down based on function and size. I would go as large as you can fit.

Great tv for the office or bedroom. Got one during BF and using it on a floor mount stand off to side of my desk. Looks good since i don't really need 120hz in this case. Even got a long hdmi to my pc in case i need it as extra monitor. Most of time it's just streaming videos though.

Yes indeed. I'm watching out for a C3 like a hawk, for my usage scenarios

Excellent picture quality plus amazing sound. Don't need a soundbar, that's additional saving.

I'm balls deep in research for exactly those specs and my top contenders in the mid price range are Sony X90L and Hisense U7/U8. I'm going to pull the trigger on a 65" once they come down a bit.

You need to first decide on size, purpose and price range before anyone can assist. For example, I recommended recently a more expensive set to a friend who instead chose a Target budget Hisense 55" for $250 including tax and extended warranty. So far (two weeks), he's extremely pleased. It's not used for gaming and is not used for ten hours daily.

I think people really prefer the TLC 6 Series MiniLED for budget bang for your buck. I was just looking around for the 65" but couldn't find a good deal on it. The OLED's will have better picture but cost extra, mini-led is a good compromise between crappy LED panels and much more expensive OLEDs.

That said, my 60" Samsung Plasma recently cracked in our move, and I ended up buying this 48" A2 for 550 last week. It's a beautiful TV, incredible blacks and picture quality. I could care less about 120hz, I use my TV for watching OTA TV and sports, some Amazon/Netflix etc. If you aren't gaming, I wouldn't worry much about having 120hz. The TV handles 24p content just fine, which can be a concern with 60hz units depending on how they handle it.

I have a large 5.1 system and haven't really tried out the TV sound, but over all I am very impressed with how it handles different content. I've got a fair amount of editing and producing experience so I usually keep a keen eye out for how displays handle different things. This TV seems to produce a true and overall great picture. Yes the C3 models are better, but they aren't on nearly as steep of a discount.

My A2 model does show line shift and some of the other options that were discussed in this thread. The remote takes a bit getting used to, but probably since this is my first "SmartTV", I am still bypassing all of that and going thru a 2nd Gen FireTV Cube.

I got this back in September as an Open Box-Excellent for $490. We've got it in our bedroom and it's a very nice TV. For the average person, this is great. We don't need 120hz and don't even use the TV OS or LG remote. With HDMI CEC, our AppleTV takes care of all the control we need. The speakers were pretty underwhelming but we already use a 2.1 Vizo soundbar which interfaces just fine with the HDMI eARC port. OLED picture quality is really second to none and we have no regrets, even if we lost a couple of inches on screen size from
our previous Hisense LED TV.

LG's shady tactic of pretending this normally would be $1300 is disgusting. Maybe if it were 98" or larger, sure. This is what it should cost without a "sale" of any kind.

Bought this TV from Best Buy at this price last month for use as a bedroom tv. The picture quality is excellent, and the sound is surprisingly good with internal speakers. While 120hz refresh would have been nice, that setup have cost would have at least 50% more. The only other downsides are the two USB 2.0 ports, but they are a minor issue. Even at 60hz, playing PS5 on it is quite enjoyable!
