Guys, you can load epic games into steam.........
You know what would be awesome? If Epic/Steam/MS made a Movies Anywhere version of game licenses. I would spend so much money on Epic if they would populate in Steam.

Might have to grab that Cyberpunk bundle though… and MK1.
Wow, I had regrets I didn't grab Alan Wake 2 from the sale a couple weeks ago, and now it's already dropped another $7 so instant buy. The other prices are great too, Epic is consistently 20%+ cheaper than Steam sales.

The Last of Us Part 1 worth buying on PC now after a few rounds of patches? (I don't have any consoles)
I played it on Steam a fair bit after launch so there were a number of updates and it was pretty smooth. I don't think I had a single crash and performance was good (6700XT). Absolutely loved the game and can't wait for Part 2 on PC.

Released their store with PC exclusives from independent studios, including a game that was already available for pre-order on steam and only changed to exclusive a few weeks before it's release.

Epic is known to be very "anti consumer" despite the entire attempt to paint Apple in the same light. Epic even lost a major recent lawsuit for deceptive store tactics in fortnite.

Not to mention that China (Tencent) owns one of the largest corporate holdings of the company. It just adds to the distrust.
The exclusives required approval from those independent studios. They gave an offer to those studios that they most likely couldn't refuse. Is Epic to blame? Yes, partially, but so are the studios for accepting it and allowing Epic to monopolize their own game.

I bought my 12 yo daughter a gaming laptop (4050) for Christmas. She also has a switch. Opinions on getting Hogwarts Legacy for either platform?
if there is option don't get it on switch. while it is certainly playable, graphic is way dump down and the load time is horrible when changing area. sometimes takes almost a whole minute for stuff to load.

I see the epic coupon is good until Jan 10. Anyone seen them ever go out of stock on a digital game? My son is wanting Avatar for Christmas but if I buy it now it will show up in Epic and won't exactly be a surprise. Wondering if it will still be this price with coupon and available to buy on Christmas Eve.
Best I could recommend is to (test this first): buy the game and no not install it. Then filter the library for installed games only.

That's assuming they do not look at it in the shop or that the filter doesn't reset each time you open their launcher.

It's unfortunate Epic doesn't have a "gift" option like steam.

Sigh. I game on Steam Big Screen Mode with a Xbox controller. Epic game store does not have any sort of couch friendly mode (that I'm aware of). I'm hoping to see Valve price match the games that are on both stores.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's not going to happen. Epic is eating the cost of the coupon to get people to buy on their store instead.

If that's a feature you enjoy and have the few extra bucks of disposable income then IMO it's worth buying where you get the best experience. It may be "just a launcher" for some people, but Valve does a lot for gaming on PC as a whole. Big Screen mode like you said, controller support, Steam Workshop for simple mod integration, active Linux development support to make a viable alternative to Windows/Mac… there's not even a choice for me where to buy.

Valve ain't a group of saints to be sure, shoot they're not even "good." Yet in many ways they're still the better option.

Uh no it's not. I've had a steamdeck since launch. Aint no way spiderman looks the same on steam deck as it does on ps4 and ESPECIALLY not ps4 pro.

Many people like to overestimate the power of the steam deck. It really does not live up to expectations if you're targeting AAA games.

At ~1.6 tflops, the deck is about as powerful as PS4 (~1.8 tflops) or Xbox one (~1.4 tflops)

100%. Especially because I have a steam deck now, I don't really buy games from Epic anymore because they're too much of a hassle to get running on the deck. If I could easily load them in Steam, I wouldn't care who I bought games from.
Just use Heroic Games Launcher. Works great on Steam Deck, haven't had any issues running any of the games from my Epic account.

They would be selling the license. That's why I put "license" in my original post. Essentially the same thing as buying a disc version from different retailers. The storefront would get their cut and gamers could play that license on whatever platform served the license. EXACTLY how Movies Anywhere works.
Again why would they give up market share to steam when they are the ones actually having good sales? You log in to steam see their ads everyday and you forget epic exists only for their promotions which they definitely don't make as much on.

you might as well be asking for GOG games then. No drm.

Going to hold off on buying any games right now in epic til the last day of the free day a game. Was going to buy alan wake remastered. But for some reason i have a feeling they might give it away for free during this holiday giveaway. Any game could be free i would recommend waiting til the holiday giveaway ends to start buying.

I stand by what I said. Try playing GoW docked vs a PS4. Your experiences are going to be greatly hindered on the deck.

If it's a difference of $5 I'd go with steam every time. But these sales are a good bit better. Midnight suns is sub $14 on EGS. I've never seen it this low even with third party game sites like GMG and fanatical.

No, Epic doesn't do keys or gift orders. You either hide installed games in the library or (don't do this) make a separate epic games account.
