Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

The current generation CX-5 is a good car that came out in 2012. It was ahead of its time back when it came out, which is why it stayed in production so long, but there are better cars out there now.

I'm currently looking at purchasing a cx-5, took a test drive today. I bought a crv in 2014 but really thought the cx-5 in 2014 was the better looking and better driving vehicle. The crv had better leg room and more space in general. Today my family size has gotten smaller and will be purchasing a cx-5 this month.

In 2014, I bought a CRV EXL, sticker price 30k, I paid 26k out the door. Tax title everything with 0.9%.

In 2015, I negotiated my sisters RAV4 mid trim, 29k sticker for 27k out the door, no financing.

In 2016, I bought my daughter's jeep renegade (horrible vehicle but she wanted jeep), it was 29k anniversary edition, paid 26k out the door. It came with 0% financing.

This time my wife is looking at the cx-5 carbon edition 32k, I'm hoping to get it at 29k out the door 🤞.

My advice on buying car. Always let the negotiations go till the end of the month. Never talk avout monthly payment, negotiate the out the door total price. Don't be afraid to walk away.

Remember that every 6k that you finance is $100 a month, when financing for 60 months @ 0%. So if you finance $18k, your monthly should be $300 for 60 months. Make sure your monthly payment is correct. They've tried to give me a higher monthly at all the dealerships I've been to, since the majority of Americans are bad at math.
cx-5 carbon edition 32k, I'm hoping to get it at 29k out the door ???

29k out door ?

We own 2014 CX-5 Sport 2.0 with 6 speed manual (original clutch). Right now about 285,000 miles on odometer and still my son's daily driver. This year we decided to change few parts, new injectors, front control arms, stabilizer links, rear shocks, we replaced all parts ourself so the overall cost was not too bad. The carbon buildup was less then expected when we removed intake manifold. When it was newer we could get 35-36 MPG highway when staying undr 70 MPH. Right now MPG is more like 22-25 but my son always has a heavy bike rack in the back with two mountain bikes, and roof rack with long cylindrical shape container attached to it. We will need to check MPG with the new injectors installed.

Why in 2023 someone buys CX-5??? It looks nice and expensive, but it's outdated cheap car. Look what cars are trending in China.
Why would I care about what Chinese people are driving?

I just want a preferred trim for $30k or less drive out! Any color will do. Was willing to pay all cash.

I'm kinda waiting for their EVs to come to the states before considering an EV, but if i can get a great deal on cx-5 i will jump on it.

I'm hoping to get a cx-5 preferred trim at invoice or close to it. In the end, i just want a drive out price of less than $30k

If you want electric you can get a Tesla model y for not much more than this after federal and state rebates. They have inventory available for about $41k pre taxes. Then $7500 back in fed tax rebates (if you made over $65k ish) plus whatever state rebates you have. My state has $2k
The fed tax credits go away in 2024 from what i read. I think you need to take delivery before Dec. 31st, so even if you ordered a Tesla Y or 3 now, it might be too late since it could take several weeks before your car is delivered.

A very good deal indeed, when I took last year they were only giving 0% for 3 years , I took 5 years for around 3% ...A very fun car to drive , great looks , amazing handling, very less cabin Noise but keep in mind fuel economy will be bad , newer ones also have Touch screen for Apple car play / Android auto compared to their knob based system which is still fine. So far 11k miles in last 8 months I love this car, Also I drove a Cx50.. but CX5 is more comfortable than Cx50
that's what i've been told since cx-50 is more for offroading. i don't do any of that off roading stuff. also i hate the trim above the wheels on the cx-50. they're a different color and i believe plastic. looks stupid.

Quote from Daekwan :
CX-5 is a great car.. its far more luxurious & sporty than its competitors like the CRV & RAV4. But make sure you test-drive this thing with somebody in the backseat. And if you have small kids, make sure to bring the car seats to see if they will fit properly. I could not believe how small it was inside. The rear seat legroom is a straight-up joke. Granted Im a big guy 6'3" 240lbs.. but there was no way I was fitting a rear-facing car seat behind me without being smushed up against the steering wheel.

Ended up getting a CRV instead. And 3 years later I switched to a Model Y. Both of which have significantly more passenger and cargo room than the CX-5. That said as long as you, your passengers and your stuff can fit into a CX-5.. its one of the best bargains in the midsize SUV category. I'd just consider it more of a compact SUV.. than a midsize one due to the tiny interior. Seems like all Mazda vehicles are tiny on the inside.
The only model that doesn't have good rear leg room is the Mazda 3 or CX-3(at least older models). You're just not a normal sized person.

Quote from sshlyk :
Owned base model for 8 years. Oil change is cheap and easy DIY in a garage. Did not spend money on any repairs. I dislike cars that require tons of maintenance and visits to dealers.
easy to reach oil filter with hand standing in front of open hood? I know it was virtually impossible for my 2009 honda accord , thus i had mechanic change my oil. it was too crowded to reach by hand.

Overwhelming?! I think you need to go back to your 'safe space' and not use the internet until your meds kick in! 🤦

40 mpg on a turbo 4 with over 300+ of torque?! No car can do that. I think you need a Prius.
