Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

Mazda actually makes pretty good cars these days. Nice deal. Good car.
I've been told that since they no longer deal with Ford, Mazda's reliability has increased significantly.

Why didn't you just get a used X3 if you were going to modify it and thus throw away warranty coverage? Would be lot better car overall with stock engine that already much more powerful before JB4?
A BMW? Status vs
Japanese reliability. I drive a lot. I have 4 vehicles bow if your not counting my old half constructed supra and it's just me and my wife. I have put multiple 2016 and later Mazdas past 120-180k and literally no reliability issues. Brakes, batteries, tires, and drive. Toyota is rarely built in Japan anymore. Their cars are simply reliable.

oh it's way more than just status. Japanese cars, unless you go into Lexus, Acura, etc are just econoboxes. They are built cheaply, they don't use emerging tech, and performance & ride quality is never a consideration.

I only ask the posted why he went with new Cx-5 when he's started modifying for performance.

Insurance costs and repair costs are also a consideration. Their signature line has the necessary tech, android auto, hud display with signs, 360 camera's, heated cooled seats and steering wheel, bose with multiple speakers, lane departure, adaptive cruise, emergency braking, Napa hand stitched leather, etc. I get 30 mpg all day in a Mazda6 signature and finally moved my wife into a CX-9 carbon edition due to needing more room for our dogs and daughter. I have a coworker with a telluride and while he has the tech it's been one problem after another. As many miles we put on I couldn't go back to BMW and the Mercedesi had in the early 2000's definitelywas my last. I like to work on my own stuff but it gets to a point where I can't commit the time. It's a utilitarian item for me. Get me there and back and not be the same mundane thing everyone else has and when I go out there start and drive reliably. Mazdas won me over a decade back. Not an argument from me but it's an overlooked brand a lot and it's a shame. Their new CX-90 looks to be amazing as well.

Mitsubishi outlander is way better than Mazda CX5. 7 seater too and bigger vehicle, better mileage
Mitsubishi is like the Chrysler of Japan - absolutely not worth the trouble when there are better options available. Also, the CX-5 is a compact class SUV, the Outlander is decidedly not, hence the larger vehicle and extra capacity. Apples to oranges comparison here. I'm not sure where you're looking at gas mileage, but an Outlander is not rated any better than a CX-5.

No dealer network and call rhe one 100+ miles from your house and ask how far out they are scheduling work... and if they have loaners available.. hint months and they won't.

Multiple more reasons I went Mazda but I also like the small manufacturer. I would like to see them succeed and would not call them econoboxes. Far from it. The fit and finish of recent Mazdas is amazing inside, near german quality for real..unlike Mercedes which is starting to become all cheap plastic inside and regressing.

I started to modify just to get that extra bit of performance and fun it was missing. Not a huge added cost unlike BMW aftermarket parts which are overpriced just for the sake of it. Near bulletproof reliability+ some sportiness > questionable reliability + all out balls to the wall performance is what I prefer. Been there, done that.

Cute but registration has nothing to do with sales. Same car can be registered 365 times a year.
I'm not going to say this wins the award for dumbest argument you've ever made here- but it's honored to be nominated.

It's quite simple to tell if a car is being registered as a new car for the first time or not BTW.

If Model Y, was actually outselling every one.....which they arent.
Except they are.

Why do you only ever post untrue things?

Quote from 1jzgte :
Haha very true. Elon would be talking it up on his X.
Talking up the Y being the best selling car in the world?

I already posted half a dozen different news sources showing that.

But if you really need to hear what Elon says about it- he'd already predicted back in early 2021 that would happen this year:
https://twitter.com/elonmusk/stat...1199571968
Quote from Elon Musk in reply to someone suggesting the Y would be the top selling vehicle :
Seems quite likely at least based on revenue in 2022 & possibly total units in 2023
And he was right on both counts...in 2022 it was #1 by revenue, and #3 by units sold. In 2023 it's #1 in both.

He reiterated this on Teslas Q3 2023 results call:
Quote from Elon Musk :
We are on track for the Model Y to be the best selling car on earth (in volume terms) this year.
Since it has been for all 3 quarters so far and there's no reason to suspect it won't finish the year there.

Why do you and Pga get so mad at facts?

Quote from BlueRoom4419 :
I see too many horror stories of 5 year and one month old cars needing $20k in replacement batteries to ever want to buy an electric car.
From whom have you heard them? Can you cite some sources showing these "too many" such stories?

One reason I ask is generally batteries in both EVs and hybrids have an 8 year warranty (or longer in some cases and some states).

https://www.mazdausa.com/vehicles.../ownership

That cites Mazdas CX-90 Hybrid warranty as 8 years for example.

So I find your 5 year claim... dubious.

Just came back from Mazda dealership in Alpharetta GA . They are only giving $700 discount that too after too many request and behaving like their CX5 is the most selling car in this universe so take it or not we don't care kind of attitude
Wait till the end of the month. They are more negotiable because they want/need to meet quotas.

Why do you even bother buying when you rotate cars on a standard lease cycle?
When you lease you have nothing after the three years. My last car cost me $37 a month to own. I also do not like payments of any type. My new 24 I may keep to just before the powertrain warranty is up which is 5 years. When I buy and trade my outlay of cash is not bad.

It will be interesting how that turns out during a recession that we are headed into vs the pandemic that skewed it.

$3k under MSRP on a trim starting at $37k MSRP will not equal $26k
It was a turbo premium, so MSRP was 39K....we got it out the door for 39K (tax, tag, title, etc).

I bought two Lexus in the last five years and despite putting a combined 70,000 miles on the two cars, each one is now worth the same as I paid for it.

Two takeaways :
1) Continue buying quality
2) inflation sucks
Did the same. An ES350 and an RX350. Only complaint is neither can facilitate Android Auto or Car Play on the screen. Minor inconvenience.

lol personal attack doesn't refute the fact if Model Y was in fact the best selling....which it clearly isn't......Telsa would be breaking out the actual sales of Model Y from Model 3 instead of lumping them together and relay on the reliable Telsa worshippers to use conjectured surrogate datas to spread fake news PR.
