That's too bad. I use them in all of my vacation rentals and have had zero issues. Each home has 4 nodes in it. I love the system and can control it remotely.

I've had the XT8 for a couple years. Firmware is key. It ranges from "didn't work someone kill me" to "works perfectly". The SNB forums has a good discussion. FYI my setup is hardwired. About 60 devices connected in total give or take. *288_23285 has been working perfect for me.

Had a terrible experience with these on a new internet setup.

Went with Orbis instead and have had zero issues.

I've got three of these hard wired as their mesh setup. They have been flawless for a few years now. Never tried them on wireless but they are solid.

Been waiting for a deal on the XT9's, which look like they are on sale too. But now that WiFi 7 is rolling out, I'm wondering if I'd regret getting a WiFi 6 router system...

XT12 never goes on sale. Best you can get is the Amzn $650 and keep checking for a $50 coupon that pops on it once in a while. So $600 basically, but no one ever catches that on here because it's a coupon on the page. Randomly comes and goes.

That being said, XT12 blows XT8&9 away. It also has way better 2.4ghz, which tons of devices still run on.

If you can afford, XT12 hands down. Otherwise XT9, or wait for some other better wifi7 device.

I just got the xe75 pro. It's pretty good, but it doesn't give me the fastest speed on 802.11n with an old 2012 MacBook Pro. It went from 270mbps to 200. 802.11ax and newer all work correctly. I doubt there's any way to improve this and could be due to hardware limitations.

Previously I had a pair of ASUS ac68u routers in mesh mode. They didn't have 802.11r standard which caused my wireless devices to have slow switching from one node to the other. This was a headache to deal with on wifi voice and video calling, and laptop use. The 802.11n speeds on my laptop were faster.

I can't seem to find if any of the newer ASUS devices have this 802.11r fast roaming standard or not. To me it's important, so at the moment I'm sticking with xe75 pro to see how it works out while I still have a return window available.

Edit: For what ever it's worth, both the TP-Link and ASUS were set up using wired backhaul. The TP-Link I received was hardware version 2.6, which I bought off of Amazon.

I have the XE75 Pro as well. Gives me Gigabit over the air on my newer devices and even a few year old laptop. It has been nothing short of fantastic for me.

When I tried using this mesh system two years ago, Asus XT8 dropped wifi connection for my Mac multiple times every day. I wasn't sure if it occurred to my Mac only or other devices too because the connection came back within a second that might hadn't been noticed by web surfing or streaming use. However, when that happened to my Mac, the VPN client my employer used appeared not to tolerate that and disconnected every time, so did all the dozens of SSH sessions I was working with. I contacted Asus support, and they recommended to use a fixed wifi channel rather than what was in the default settings. That configuration helped a bit, but didn't eliminate the issue completely. I ended up to return it on the last returnable day

I've only had it for maybe three days so far on a 300/300 connection, and I get a little above that (310/340) on everything except my 2012 MBP, which uses 802.11n card. No way around it, because I don't think there's an alternative internal card available for this laptop. I am not too concerned with it at the moment, since I'm planning on upgrading to a newer laptop in the future with WiFi 6 or newer support. My main concern at the moment is to see how well the fast roaming works, so the wireless devices can switch from one node to the other without delayed signal loss like I've experienced on my older ASUS routers. So far I've not encountered the issues that some have reported on Amazon reviews, though I do have the latest hardware version XE75 Pro, so who knows. I'm also in no hurry to get to WiFi 7, since it's way above what I want to spend.

Do modern routers have repeater modes anymore? I bought the msi radix ax6600 only to find out it only has wifi and ap modes. I looked at the review for the TP-Link Tri-Band BE9300 and it also doesn't have repeater mode.

I guess Asus ac86r is the way to go but I would like some future proofing.

I don't know how well these work but I upgraded from an Asus aimesh'd router and extender to the xt12 and the difference in reliability is night and day. The mesh works so flawlessly with the units. Haven't had to hook my old router setup up to extend and frankly I'm afraid it'll bring back old aimesh issues if I did
