Got the 20% off on the 8750 Watt electric start. 516.87 before taxes. I jumped on that faster than your mom. These smokes the previous FP deal right?
It was $1000 to wire the entire basement, including installing about 15 electrical outlets and three light fixtures as well as installing the generator interconnect kit. I was guessing that if you were only doing the generator interconnect kit, it would cost maybe $400-$500. I apologize for not being more clear.
Same experience with a 1500W version except it was the fuel line. Leaked from the beginning and no real way to return it or get warranty service. Thankfully it was literally only $100 down the drain. Never buying this brand again.

yes... naturally a bigger engine will consume more fuel (just like a car) and the generator must maintain a minimum speed on the generator in order to produce constant power... The larger engine just means it can handle a higher load when demand is placed on it. Size your generator to what you really must need to run. My must haves are 2 freezers, two fridges, some lights and in the winter furnace blower. I have a 5500w non-inverter unit that has a 30a 240 and it barely runs what I need... looking at this 8750 inverter which will run more efficiently and deliver more and cleaner power. I lost power for a week this summer and I was going through 12 gallons of fuel (gas) per day... Natural gas is the way to go if you have access but fuel density is much poorer and you need a much larger unit to get the wattage performance you would get from gas.

Good reply.
On a side note. Whatever generator you get buy lots of oil. Plan on changing the oil once a week. The Oil in air cooled engines acts like a coolant not just a lubricant. Also like the poster said propane has less energy and you will use more fuel and it also makes the generator run hotter without the added benefit of gasoline acting like a lubricant. This makes oil changes even more important.

I did the comparison and the Duromax seems better at almost the same price, only downside is it's bigger/heavier. So not sure why everyone is so interested in this champion 100520? Maybe someone can enlighten me

One thing to consider is that the Champion generators all come with a 3 year warranty. Most other brands come with a 1 year warranty max, some are actually only 90 days.

& yes as others said, the Champion is an inverter type generator, which has a couple benefits.

- can run in Eco mode, which throttles the engine up & down based on current load. This can save fuel vs a traditional generator that runs at 100% regardless of load.

- should be safer for modern electronics (clean sine wave power). Traditional generators usually provide dirty power.

- should be quieter than a traditional generator by design, plus when there is less load the engine will throttle down which helps the noise level a lot

But the con with inverter generators is that they are usually more expensive & provide lower capacity per dollar. For example, getting close to 10k starting watts on an inverter typically pushes you up to the $2,000 price range. This 8750 almost gets there for $600-700 for this sale, which is rare.

The generator bible tool will let you compare traditional generators & inverter generators, but I would almost not even compare them & decide which type you want first, then only do comparisons of the same type.

Gavin's Garage is a decent YouTube channel to check out if you want to dive further down this rabbit hole. There are a ton of things to consider before you buy.

Agreed. No coupon, no purchase. I called Amazon to see if I could get the 20% coupon. All I got for my efforts was a series of BS answers and no concession from them. Amazon sucks.
I guess it depends on the situation. I purchased earlier in the week with a 20% coupon before the significant price drop. As a one time courtesy the rep refunded me the difference. I was very thankful for that. my net cost on the unit ended up being like $240 after the refund. have no idea how she calculated it but in the end I was super happy with amazon customer service.

I'm already done with amazon and I didn't even get started.

Tried to set up my free trial account (never have had one before) and attempt after attempt after attempt to log in, and was locked out of my account.
Called customer service and they said it was an "administrative" lock, and to check back today.
Checked back today, and the deal is gone.

Chatted with CS to honor yesterday's price, and they said they would not honor the price because it was a 3rd party seller.
Guess who won't being using prime anymore, lol?
FYI my order placed yesterday for the 8750 watt unit ($646) says "Sold By: Amazon.com Services LLC". Maybe contact them again?

The rep seemed to be more interested in me not having a screenshot of the deal rather than checking their own listings.
I appreciate the thought but I'll wait for the next deal to roll around.
Don't have time for these issues.
(also says the item is oos). And I'm sure they are out. Those were darn good prices.

Slickest deal ever for this end-of-year stock reduction of Champion hybrid inverter generators. I would have jumped on the 8750 / 7000 watt for under $700. That's really the minimum size for whole house backup. If I had seen it then I would have replaced the 6250 / 5000 watt I bought last summer which only has a couple of test hours on it.

If it helps I have never found any use for remote electric start. Loads need to be manually disconnected before starting or shut down to prevent generator and device damage.

Electric start isn't needed on engines under 385 cc and you won't find it on commercial gensets in this power range. Dual fuel won't work in cold weather from a BBQ cylinder. For NG the gasoline rating should be at least 8kw running watts.

If only a fridge electronics and a few lamps are needed then it is super-inexpensive to run a romex cable to a generator-only outlet in one or two rooms. This way an outdoor inlet can be installed without any interlock or connection to the house wiring, No connection to the house wiring is required and a 2500 watt hand carrry onverter can be used which is far more fuel efficient and much quieter.
