note: this is a good tv but probably not the best choice for gaming. this is older than the r6 best buy had on sale (55r646 vs 55r635, 2022 vs 2020 model). while it is 120hz, it lacks 2.1 hdmi ports. given its age and features, that was a much better deal.

no one has a time machine but i'm in need of a tv and i'm personally holding off on this one due to its age, features, and price.
r646 = 2021
r655 = 2022
qm8 = 2023

this is a great TV, I own it - the only knock I will give it is that it isn't quite bright enough to offset direct sunlight glare but that's more an issue with my house/setup than with the TV.

That's quite a knock .. the TVs brightness is good without washing out color

most TV's can't deal with direct sunlight.

shrug.

Is this good for a PS5?
I second those saying pay $200 more for the hisense U7... I'm sure this TV is fine but future proofing with 144hz and HDMI 2.1 is worth the extra $200.

If my only requirement is streaming Netflix/prime/Hulu/xyz.., and no gaming, shouldn't the specs of this TV suffice? With Roku built in, I might only need to attach my soundbar to it (aka no Chromecast/fire TV), would the older HDMI ports be ok? I'm almost tempted to go for this. Could someone please advise?

After seeing 2/3 TCLs purchased fail in a 6 year period, I'm done with this brand. I'll stick with Samsung or LG going forward.

What do you suggest, that they pick up the house and rotate it until the sun isn't shining on the screen? Not everyone has a windowless home theater and many houses aren't built with the TV placement in mind. My monitor gets direct sun 2 times a year, that doesn't mean I'm moving my desk to accommodate.

Drapes? If you have a great tv like this in direct sunlight .. something isn't making sense. I live in the dark so what do I know

It does 1440p 120 hz with vrr, not a bad 'little' gaming monitor
