Two children should fit fine, but you would need a bigger one to squeeze in two adults. Most likely legs would be hanging outside.
I just got my 800 delivered from Best Buy. It's free install, but I told them just to leave it and I'll install it myself. It might take me some extra time, but I can't stand how many shortcuts these outsourced third party install services use when they are contracted for install.
Great price for Bosch dishwasher that includes delivery and installation. If you buy it from other places like BB, HD, Lowes, there is usually a $150-$200 installation charge.

Not discounting your experience, but I bought an 800 a few months ago and it dries everything quite well, including plastics. I wonder what would cause the difference. We use Jet Dry but don't have hard water just for reference.

Yeah we had a Bosch tech out multiple times with the first one and he basically was adjusting a setting that controls how much jet dry gets dispensed, it never improved. His advice in the end was to just crack it open to let stuff dry. Never had that issue with the cheapo ones over the years. First one was well water on east coast - on a softener, now it's city water in the midwest. Very frustrating given the historically high reputation of Bosch.

Ya saw that too. We use rinse often.

Maybe it's not needed. My 800 has a rinse cycle but I just put the dishes in and turn it on when it's full. I've never used it.

Regarding the lack of third rack on this level of model, something to consider:
We put all our silverware on the third rack of our Bosch and never use the utensil holder. The utensils get perfectly clean up there. Frees up room on the lower rack for more dishes.

Same here. We scrape the big stuff off our dishes but don't rinse manually or by machine cycle. We just hit start for the automatic wash cycle and it cleans off everything.

Best dishwasher I've ever owned. Gets every nook and cranny, and maintenance is a breeze.

Thank you for responding. Will try to hold off for 800. Hoping that the pump in my current samsung survives until 800 series goes on sale again.
I think 500 is good enough. I need nothing 800 has but 500 doesn't.

Can I ask? What maintenance other than cleaning might be needed?

I think the base Bosch to consider would be the 300 series. The 300 is the value play model. No reason to go above 500 series unless you need every bell and whistle.

I'm sure it's a night and day difference. But this version or save for the Bosch 800?
Save for 800

Auto air dry starts from series 500 and up
Model 300 and up has the full stainless tub whereas the 100 is a plastic/steel hybrid

Best Buy has the Series 500 on sale for $770. Highly recommend that over this one if you can spend a bit more and it has a stainless steel tub vs plastic/steel hybrid on this model.

I have had 100 for 15 years and I 100% recommend over the higher end models because it is CHEAP to repair and has fewer features that are crazy expensive to repair.

For maintenance its pretty simple:

1. Every month or so I take the screen out and clean it out with a brush. If some big food gets stuck on the screen, just take it out.
2. Every 2-3 months or so I use Affresh tabs. We have harder water, so YMMV. If its softer a few times a year will suffice to keep the plastics and coatings clean. This does not have a fully SS tub so it needs the tab IMHO to keep it sorted and it does.
3. If something gets in the impeller pump, fix it immediately otherwise you may have an issue.

As a tip you 100% should use rise aid (I bought industrial and make my own for $1 a bottle), and I also use Cascade complete liquid and put a shot in the tub with the regular pod and that dramatically keeps the dishes clean. A 120 oz bottle easily lasts over a year for $12, and is the best "pre-rinse" I have found and takes a few seconds.

The only thing that has worm out is the return pump which I received a replacement for $32 and it took me about 15 minutes to replace and the washer just hit 15 years.

My mother has the 800 which is quieter and my brother bought a $1200 LG. Both of them broke in the first year and the LG needed a full motor replacement. Apparently that isnt a common item but the bill was $800 back to LG -- more than I paid for mine.

Its personal but the cleaning power to the 800 is not dramatically different, the big difference (to me) is no utensil third tray which does reduce loading power a bit but not dramatically. So I wish I had it but not going to pay $500+ and added repair complexity.

I've had this dishwasher for 2 years now. I also have little kids. Do not get this dishwasher if you have little kids and lots of plastic cups/bowls. Everything plastic comes out soaking wet. We have to wipe everything down or let it sit on the counter to dry. With all the plastic stuff we use, I'd rather use a 20 year old dishwasher than this. Other than that huge downside, it's been great. Never buying another dishwasher without a heater/dry cycle. Also jet dry does almost nothing for the plastics.
