Synthetic down is made with polyester and can approach the insulating properties of medium range down fills.
I have down throw pillows that weigh almost as much as this whole comforter. I'm not sure why they even mention down. It's just a polyester stuffed blanket.
It sounds like you're trying to say that down is better due to the weight. Down *is* generally better for bedding, but one of its superior qualities is warmth-to-weight. Your "down" pillow is heavy because it's a mix of down and feathers, which makes it heavy. That's not a bad thing though because you want it to have structure.
I'm guess I'm trying to figure out how this product listed is different than all the other comforters I see.
