What bothers me about the Platinum "PLUS" is that BEFORE adding the "PLUS", the Cascade Platinum cleaned incredibly well.
The price was a bit lower also. Costco would put the then PLATINUM on sale for $15-$16 and the quantitiy was 96 in each container.
These PLATINUM PLUS pods don't clean any better than the PLATINUM pods did. It's just a way Proctor & Gamble to increase their stock value. The adding of the PLUS (what is it?)and LESS pods?!

For those of you wondering, this it about 4 cents cheaper per pod than Sam's club. Even a bit more for me as I'm seeing an even lower price on Amazon.

After just buying a new dishwasher, I deep dive into what brand works best and after looking around, it appears that powder detergent does. I'm excited to run out of my existing pods to test this hypothesis as it's much cheaper

I did this, testing against Cascade powder. It really depends on what is in your load. I found powder to do a much better job on glass - wine glasses now have zero film on them. About the same on things like dishes and ceramic.

Where it doesn't do as well is metal - things like stainless steel pans. I've been left with oily spots a few times now with powder where I've never had that issue with the pods. A little bar keeper's friend cleans it up instantly.

So I am kind of torn and I don't know what I will be doing going forward.

Both! I use a pod in the bin and sprinkle powder on the door. That way some soap gets into the pre-rinse water, then the pod takes care of the rest in the main cycle.

Yup, I've done that a few times and it's good. I want to save on the pods though! laugh out loud

The fatal flaw with these is dish washers have a secondary fill bin and a main fill bin, and if you are only using pods then the main bin only is used. From my personal experiments I find that putting a pod in the main bin and cheap powder in the secondary bin gets my dishes the cleanest. Cheap Walmart brand pods do not get my dishes as clean.

I know it defeats one of the main purpose of using pods, the convenience of not using powders or gels. However I do think there is a scientific reason why my method works, mainiy that the detergent in the main bin is high quality and doesn't degrade from moisture in the air. Obviously if you are getting acceptable results using only cheap powder then there is no point in these pods, but for me there is a signifigant difference.
