These aren't generally friendly to discrete GPU installation. A low power card might be doable. Youtube may shed some light on your options. Here's a very similar 12th Gen build; looks like maybe an NVIDIA 16 series card will work.

It has a pice x 16 slot, so it definitely would.

With only a 300 watt PSU, it will need to be a lower power GPU. Not sure you can make it work though. Even for a rx 6500xt or rx 6600 you'll need 350 watts.

I wonder if the mobo has standard psu inputs? Can always strap externally if it doesnt fit. Thats what I did for my last htpc, before I bought one of those $150 Nuc's.

From my experience with other Acer systems, the 300w PSU probably does not have a PCIE power connector for GPUs, so a GPU might fit physically but it would need to be able to draw all power from the slot only.

For most people, the Acer TC-1780 (same 13400, but 16gb ram, 1tb ssd, wifi 6e) from Costco for $499 new with 2 year warranty would be better.

If you're super tight on money and want something with more than 16gb ram or 1TB nvme SSD, then saving $90 with this deal to put towards the upgrades yourself might be ok. Or if you're a very casual user with extremely lightweight computing needs and plan on leaving it stock for $410.

There's also an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G HP on another post, that has the 16GB RAM but a 256GB SSD. Roughly the same CPU benchmarks and same price at $409 with 2 year warranty. Might be a fit for someone who wants the RAM but doesn't need much storage.

Most people would be close to as good off with a $150 off lease (8th Gen or newer) Optiplex.

To the point of the video, the most realistic GPU options are those which don't depend upon auxiliary power (the 1030 and some models of 1650).

Otherwise this system provides a reasonable value but the trade-off is the incorporation of relatively custom components in the form of an OEM motherboard and power supply.

This power supply is a 12 Volt Only style model. That style distinction is significant since although OEMs have started implementing their own versions of ATX 12VO for cost-savings as well as to meet certain efficiency requirements, what is being sold in OEM systems isn't really standardized in the retail space. So if the power supply needs replacement (outside of warranty) or upgrading, this challenge alone will create some issues well beyond a simple drive to Micro Center.

On top of that, the motherboard also integrates the front panel connections such as the USB sockets directly onto the motherboard. Though typical for many OEM systems such as those from HP, this also complicates replacement of the motherboard and/or case.

As such, this recommends at least three possible approaches:
1. Operate this system as a sealed box with limited to power-neutral upgrades for its lifetime (so only swapping in CPUs or GPUs which are supported within the existing power budget). This works for a large group of users and represents the target audience of this kind of pre-built.
2. Be the kind of DIY-er who cuts into power supply wires, uses custom power supply wire harnesses, or runs dual power supplies in a PC as part of their GPU upgrade (nothing unimaginable, but definitely a niche group).
3. Ignore this kind of highly custom OEM system in favor of a PC which utilizes standardized motherboards and power supplies.

Good luck!

For reference here's a nice article [techspot.com] on some of the Gigabyte GTX 1650 models equipped to run on only the 75W PCIe power. I've also seen online confirmation of an MSI GTX 1650 model without external power requirements.

Good luck!

16 items are still available. It seems that no one purchased any since this post created.
I'm in need of a budget PC for my Blue Iris system, but last time I had a reconditioned Acer Laptop and it sounded like a helicopter with screen turn on and off randomly so I returned it.

Anyone has any experience using this PC?

Looking for a BI PC as well. I don't know about this specifically but I do know that you want to stick with Intel architecture over AMD for BI.

Agree. I have been using BI for the past 8 years.
I just want to upgrade my system. Adding another 8GB RAM will make a nice BI PC.

A very cut down 3050 model may also become a solid GPU upgrade option for this power-limited system.
