If I have a tune in my head, can I use this to transform the tune into actual sound? What else will I need apart from this?

No. This is a controller, an input device only. This is like a mouse/keyboard is a to a PC. It has no built-in sounds or speakers to generate a tune. This does come bundled with some software (could be a trial?) to install on your PC/Mac, which after install would allow you to create tunes. But it requires those things to make any sound. It could also be used to control a semi-modular or modular synthesizer.

USB midi output only I believe. No standard MIDI or mini MIDI outputs for direct control of hardware synths. Otherwise, great full feature USB controller with knobs, pads, arpeggiator, and compact size.

Thanks. If I wanted to make , or lets say replicate, a regular song (non-EDM) , ....... lets pick a song for example Michael Jackson or Katy Perry (without their vocals of course) , is that something I can do by myself using gadgets like these, or does that require a whole team of people doing different things?

I own a competitors' product. It came with the basic version of Ableton, a digital audio workstation software (DAW). I believe some version of MPC's proprietary DAW is included with this, I have never used it. This software allows you to input, manipulate, and save music projects (songs). You could use this controller to record a track for the bass line notes in Beat It. Then assign that track one of the virtual instruments, e.g. an electric bass. You could then program a track with the drum notes on it, using the pads or keys on this controller, and assign that track a virtual instrument ( a drum kit). When you're done you layer all the tracks in your project and have your song. So one person can do this. A Digital Prince, so to speak.

And you could even record your vocals and non-virtual instruments but that requires additional hardware, such as an audio interface, mics, instruments.
