FYI, this CSX model with drone capability (phone start), was $280 1 year ago is lowest it's been according to previous SD posts.

The lowest the DC3 CS4905S-KIT ( aka non-CSX model) has ever been is $220, which was a day October 2023, which I got installed on my 2014 Toyota Sienna. It's been fantastic.

The non-CSX version doesn't get lower than this price though, but often dips down to $250. Make sure you order with the free harness though when you place the order. The guy told me so many times people don't do that and they have to reschedule the install and charge for it.

Here was lowest price for the non-CSX 2 remotes, 3+ mo ago in October. Just a data point if you're wondering how this price compares for premium drone capability.

My old car has no factory remote key or fob. Only the basic key. Could this still be used to add the remote lock unlock and remote start function?
Absolutely, as long as their are power door locks from the factory then it is a pretty straight forward install and you will have factory like functionality with this unit. Definitely worth it if you are holding onto your older vehicle for a bit longer.

Can I use this with my cars existing key fob?
Absolutely, this system can be added onto most vehicles universally without issue. If you presently have a PTS vehicle that has to have a keyfob present, this will still work well alongside the factory system.

Can anyone confirm if this kit will add or give honk confirmation audible after door lock
Any Compustar unit presently available today will support this, it is standard for all major brands as well.

Can you add in your own SIM card or you have to use the one provided. Basically I'm asking if I can add in a Google Fi data only sim card, which I doubt you have tried, but maybe someone else might have?
No this unit does not allow you to access any form of a sim card out of the box. The way that this unit works alongside their provided application which is tied to your account for access of the remote mobile features. They are not going to allow you to try to skirt around paying for the service.

Even if you could change the sim so to speak, you account will not be cleared to use any features that the Drone unit enables.

I was in the market for a fancier remote (Pro T12 or T13), but honestly this is a better deal for the following reasons:

- T12/T13 remote is touch screen. No physical buttons means more fiddling.
- T12/T13 is a 2-way with claimed 2 mile (line of sight) range. That's great, but I'd rather have effectively unlimited range with LTE.
- Price w/ T-harness and pro installation....can't beat this deal!
- If you REALLY need the fancy touchscreen graphics and 2-mile range, you can always add the T12 or T13 later by just installing the antenna (ANT-2WSF) onto the Drone X1 module, and of course the remote itself. But be prepared, the cost of the antenna and the key fob alone is about the same as this entire package.

Just ordered and schedule my appointment! Thanks @Navy-Wife!

PS: If anyone wants clarification on how these Compustar / Firstech systems /iDatalink work, mainly for purposes of saving $ with DIY, or adding onto an existing installation, here's a write-up I did on the subject after spending days of research to decode the marketing fluff and non-DIY friendly "instructions" https://www.reddit.com/r/askcargu...ote_start/

Saw this where someone installed the DC3 module without doing any kind of splicing to the wires, allowing easy reversal of changes since it's all plug-n-play with this approach. Might be useful for those that have a newer vehicle and might have concerns about impacting new vehicle warranty. - https://youtu.be/kYu4SZea4XI?si=I...yGt8&t=113

Any idea if a BestBuy approved installer would splice into any wiring? I'm wondering if one could just request they pickup the T-Harness from BestBuy and just install by themself using the plug-n-play approach.

"If you follow the diagram you're going to need to cut wires. We do not cut wires on vehicles of this year due to high rate of problems and can become problematic with cutting the factory vehicle harness. This is why we use a t harness so we do not have to cut any wires. Definitely just follow the wiring harness and you should be fine"

Has anyone ever installed one on a manual car? I've looked at most of them and all just say: automatic

What the actual eff are you talking about?
- No, the T12 or T13 are not touchscreen. Both have multiple buttons. I own the T13.
- You can have Drone/cellular with the T12/T13 too, so what's your point?
- Yep. Higher-end products do cost more money.
- You can upgrade later, true. But why waste money on remotes now, if you're just going to buy the T12/13 later? Just buy the CSX9913-DC kit now and get it over with.

The brain included in this bundle (DC3) is not compatible with manual transmission. You need the bundle that includes the CMX brain. It also requires another part, FT-DASII. I honestly suggest visiting the potential installer and asking, before buying anything. Some shops flat-out refuse to work on them (more for me!).

Can you elaborate? Is this a known issue with this particular unit?
I don't know the issue with particular unit or the car. My Acura MDX is installed with non LTE unit and never have problem with battery drain. My Acura RDX is installed with this LTE unit, it drain the battery when the car is park more than 7 days, I had to jump start or charge the battery. Some month later, I cannot push start the car because it's not "see" my car key fob.
The dealer diagnostic and find the smart power control module of the car is bad, it's needs replaced but the part is not available (due to chip shortage). In order to start the car, everytime when the car is park (engine not running) more than 2 hours, I had to remove the negative battery cable then put it back to start the car. I intend to findout the culprit is the power unit or the remote unit, beacuse I think with LTE the remote require more supply power. I could not find out because I trade the car.

I have one of those hyundais that are stolen a lot (had mine stolen once and attempted stolen once as well).
Would this add an extra starter relay or replace the OEM relay as some of the other compstar alarm systems.

And is this overkill if I have no intention for remote start or tracking (have Apple airtag and tile for tracking)

added: I know hyundai was offering security kits and that it's basically a compustar alarm kit with a different starter relay to prevent the theft. I just don't remember what kit they are using and I can't seem to find it.

never mind: it looks like this doesn't include an alarm system but this is just a remote start system only. I was mistaken I thought it was an all in one kit.
