Got this in November. The two months I've been using it has been a great experience with the motion detection and battery life in the winter. As long as you have wifi connection and 3 hrs of sunlight, you can place it anywhere. I've watched other owners install it on a tree, house siding, or a fence post. My only advice is to get Homebase 3 to locally store videos. You can buy your own ssd 3.5 to expand the storage capacity.

definitely better than other brands. had it for two months and been doing great in the cold and winter. Switching over to Eufy for my others.

So it has to be direct sunlight hitting it? What if I place this in my porch, if the sunlight doesn't get in there directly, does that pretty much mean I'm SOL unless I put it outside porch? I live in a first floor apartment with a porch. Sort of had a townhome structure to it.

Edit: I have other eufy cameras that use internal storage/micro ssd and don't require homebase.

No, it will store videos onboard and send them to the app. You need HB3 to store locally and use the AI features. I have two and quite happy with them.

What state or USDA growing zone do you live in? Trying to figure out how cold your winters are. Here in Maine I have not had good experience with solar and batteries during the winter, but it's cold here, every single winter.

I have one in my driveway S230 and disappointed with motion detection. Will sometimes not detect cars parking in the driveway until person getting out of car. So you can drive into the driveway and it could be minutes before getting out and it won't trigger. This is on almost max motion detection.

Bought 2 of these a few months ago, thought they would be a perfect solution for a wireless security camera. Because of my house construction style was not able to mount them flush with the exterior due to exposure to sunlight, so I purchased a couple of aftermarket gutter mounts that worked ok with a little modification. After installing the cameras and trying to optimize the settings I could not get the cameras to detect motion until someone was about 10-15 feet from the camera! Pretty much worthless. Also, the cameras would only recharge about 1-2% in 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. After about a couple weeks of trying to tweak them to work as intended I returned them.
