I used to have XM4's that were working great until I lost them. I'm gonna return my defective XM5's and try my luck again with XM5's since this deal is still active.
I have an Android Device (S20 5G). Music sounds awesome. Today was my first phone call where I got to try out the new headphones. Everyone sounded muted. I turned up the volume via phone volume up which adjusted the bluetooth phone audio all the way to the top, and it still sounded so muted/quiet vs what Im used to on my old headphones.
I dont know if there is somewhere in the app settings I need to change this , but its really bad. I switched back to my old Buds and instantly its about 40% louder on the same call.
I really hope this is a setting I can change or something I can tweak, or these are going to have go back. I cant go backwards on call quality as Id be using these all the time when Im traveling for work.
Anyone else experience this or have any ideas on how to fix?

Which Bluetooth codec are you using for XM5? You will need to enable developer options and then there is Bluetooth codec section in there which will show the codec uses when the earphone is connected. You should switch to LDAC for Xm5
Long version:
I lucked on my deal of the year (so far - still have unjustified and unreasonable hope that Zoro still sends me the damn ratchet set which was obviously a PM... if you know, you know) on these today.
Found a pair of the Sony WF-1000XM5 True Wireless ANC Earbuds on a random clearance shelf at Target, brand new, never opened and in one of their security boxes - no clearance price tag to be found. It was just very odd to find these on a clearance rack like that - so I originally guessed they were placed there by mistake. After figuring out which bar code to scan (you have to cover the other two on this packaging) on the price checking scanner, I had to rub my eyes: $89.99 (70% off) on clearance with an original price of $299.99. I then scanned them with my Target app on my phone and they showed at full price (which I found is a common discrepancy when something's on clearance at a Target store - often higher prices in the Target app vs. the in-store system).
Not believing the price scanner and wanting clarity, I walked over to the electronics department. The employee stocking the electronics glanced and saw what was in my hand, turned back to work and casually said "I just took those out of the security cabinet and put them on the clearance shelf. $89.99. We must be making room for the next version or something." I interrogated him to the point he was getting annoyed - where they came from, how come they are clearanced to the final 70% off, were they bought and returned, anything wrong with them... He said no, they are absolutely brand new, never sold and were the last pair in the locked headphone cabinet -- he was told by his manager to remove them from the headphone case, remove the shelf tag, put them in an individual security case and on the clearance shelf. After I got to the register (up front - he didn't even ask me to buy them in electronics like they usually do for locked up items - but I guess they were on the clearance shelf) and they took off the security case, I scrutinized them and they had never been opened (they still haven't been - that would suck if I opened the packaging and the case was empty). I commend that electronics associate for not grabbing these himself to resell.
I stopped at a couple other Targets that had plenty in stock to see if this was a broader clearance. Those employees laughed 'no' thinking I was joking -- and were shocked when they looked at my receipt. I checked Brickseek and all stores (using DPCI 008-07-8154), including the one I purchased from, all show at full price. I thought about posting a thread on this to see if anyone else might get lucky - but realized I would probably get a huge negative reaction as this is a one off and I can't even say YMMV, YMWV, etc. as I'm guessing this was some unique confluence of messed up events. So I decided to post it here just to see if any of you had a similar experience -- please let me know if any of you have the same dumb luck. I don't recommend putting more than passing effort into this - really seems like someone screwed up on this.
I stupidly almost did not buy these as I just got a pair of Samsung Buds2 Pro that pair well with my Samsung phone and spent 5 minutes talking myself into buying them, so not sure whether I keep these to use for my other devices (particularly non-Samsung ones)/travels or gift them.

Also look in the Sony app to see the transparency mode settings etc which might decrease the sound levels.
The fit depends a lot on each individual. I will say they stay in better than the XM3s and XM4s because they are much smaller. However, you have to choose the best tip size to fit in your ear canal. Ironically, they are small and light, so it is a bit difficult to tell when they dislodge, and could ultimately mean you don't notice before they might fall out.
They will tell you to send the buds for a repair but then issue the refund as they are mostly caused by the firmware upgrade and it's very difficult to replace the battery and downgrade. The warranty is also for the original price of the item so if you had used one of those eBay coupon you will actually get more refund back, that's what happened to me with XM4s
