Yeah this is also one of my hang ups with this set. I was thinking to counteract that by adding a Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Shield, heck even my Xbox has most apps, and just not use the Samsung UI. Anyone have experience with this TV and a third party streaming device?
If you want to get the best experience out of a newer Samsung TV, you'll want to get a device that supports HDR10+. I have two Apple TV 4K 128GB (third gen) connected to my S95B and QN95C. I recently acquired a S95C through a warranty accommodation so now I need a third Apple TV 4K 128GB. I wish I bought another one when it was $100 at Costco. Tizen is horrible, and I refuse to update any of my Samsung TVs because they tend to nerf brightness etc. You can't rollback the firmware if you don't like it.

My experience with Apple TV 4K has been fantastic. I've owned every Apple TV 4K model, and I can't complain. I highly recommend them.

The new remotes don't have an input button either so you constantly have to go back to the Home Screen to change inputs or rely on HDMI-CEC to turn your devices on and off. You can buy an older Samsung remote with a dedicated input button for $5-$10 on Amazon.

Good price. I used to be a Sammy guy for years until I bought LG C3. I've had it for 4 months and still blown away by the picture depth and quality. Everything about it is great.
Having compared both calibrated, I would have to agree.
Both are good just prefer the processing on LG/Sony.

The capabilities on Samsung sound great on paper but how it processes content is what separates them imo.

Thanks. I remember some ridiculous epp deals around then but couldn't take advantage.
No problem! Happy to help. The S95C's One Connect Box is problematic so keep that in mind if you going for that model.

I have the OC box on my ks8000 and kinda love having all the ports easily accessible. But I don't think it's worth the upcharge here.

Has the s90c been cheaper, either directly through Samsung or GT?
The 77" S90C was as low as ~$1500 before tax from Samsung EPP with stacked promotions and cashback. But it will be very hard to duplicate that again.

I change inputs by voice faster than I ever did with a remote. Using the Alexa mic in the TV you can quickly change inputs, vol, etc. by voice. Works great for me, surprised how well this works. Supports Bixby also.

Upgrading ATV4K not worth it … yet? On the TV apps I haven't noticed any difference yet on content that has HDR-10+ vs HDR - I have the previous ATV4K so no HDR-10+ on it, so don't see reason for newest one yet … Can you suggest some content where it's a noticeable difference?

Have it. Love it. Only thing I don't like is I can't get the Samsung remote to control my Apple TV
Had the same problem with this TV and Apple TV. Finally did get it working after unplugging/plugging back in the HDMI cable. It seemed to fix a CEC handshake issue for me.

Make sure the Apple TV is plugged into an HDMI-CEC port and that CEC is enabled on the TV.
Both of those are true but I still cannot get it to work.

You're not going to find any noticeable difference between any HDR content when it comes to streaming.

Yes I use Roku and Xbox with Harmony to control. Hardly ever in the TV interface

I don't have any specific content where the differences are noticeable. I never used the internal apps. I always keep my Samsung TV's offline. My S95B/S95C/QN95C are completely offline. I registered them by going to Samsung's website and registering them there. Tizen is slow and unresponsive. I liked the older version of it where you'd press the Home Menu, and the banner would pop up from the bottom the screen. I believe the QN90A was the last model to have the older version of Tizen OS. I don't understand how Samsung could release a newer remote with the input button. It doesn't make sense.

The newest Apple TV 4K supports HDR10+. There's more Dolby Vision content available, but there's a lot of shows primarily on Prime that support HDR10+. The Apple TV 4K 128GB was $100 at Costco a while back so that was the best time to upgrade. I'm hoping for a similar deal so I can upgrade my Apple TV 4K 64GB 2nd Gen to the 128GB model for my S95C. I'm not in a rush because that's a bedroom TV so if my wife and I watch movies, it'll be on the S95B or QN95C. If I didn't have a newer Samsung TV, the Apple TV 4K 2nd Gen would suffice.

The Samsung iOS is terrible. Sony is so much better. I have a Sony in every room except the living room where my wife insisted on a frame. The software is so bad.

I got the 77" S90C a week ago directly from Samsung.com. In the end of the day I paid $1875 + tax (AAA + 5% referral code + $25 app code). I also received $200 Samsung.com ecertificate, 2 years Samsung Care+, and $50 cashback site. I'm also getting a $100 promo code due to delayed delivery, but hard to include that in the deal.

I'm still in the process of adjusting the picture settings, but watching those Richard Attenborough Planet Earth shows in HDR are fantastic, as well as the Marvel movies on Disney+. Youtube TV streaming overall has been okay. Watching football games on ESPN are very good, except there can be some buffering at times. I've had that buffering issue with my Sony x900e as well, so that may be a source issue. My family aren't hard core gamers, but the Nintendo Switch games have worked well.

I'm getting used to the Tizen OS, and while I don't love it, its not a deal breaker for me. We also have a Roku Soundbar/Streamer that my kids use the majority of the time. I am considering getting an Apple TV+ streamer for the HDR10+ content.

Overall, I'm very happy with the TV for the price. Would I love the Sony A95L? Absolutely, but hard to justify the additional 3K price.

89c vs 90c? I didn't even know they had an 89.
