Just bought this for my home for $25 more refurnished/open box! Very cool wii-connected water filter that tells you the flow rate and will alert you when you have a water flow drop (as well as bug you about replacing the filter).

I had one of these and they suck. If your house has a 1" pipe, these things will drop the whole house's water pressure.

If you're going to go through the hassle of getting these installed, get a 3 stage whole house filter like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HNJ9R62/, because the installation is the expensive part (if you plan to hire a professional).

I just installed a water softener and the unit came with a whole house filter. I decided not to install it because so many people complained about water pressure drop.

I have the exact 3 stage system and after having it for over a year I have some regrets.

The system works just fine, but I would prefer separated filters instead of 3x all in line.

My setup right now is: water softener, then 3 stage filter you linked, UV light: whole home.

If I had a chance to redo all of this I would do:

Single Filter up front (or double for sediment and iron/manganese), then UV light, Then water softener then a double filter later.

The problem with 3 in line is It forces you to get either a 4th up front filter, or use UV light at the end of the line which is not ideal (since bacteria can attach to your other filtration services within the chain).

If you have no intention to use or need a UV light though, it probably doesn't matter.

isn't there a filter "reset" button somewhere?
there is one but the fridge knows if it's a new filter or still the old one, so that doesn't help.

Useless. There is no reason to filter bath, shower and toilet water.

Some contaminants like PFAS irritate the skin.

Some minerals cause staining, build up, etc.

Side note/question - Do you use a uv light on your hvac system? I've read so many conflicting articles on whether it really is worth it or not. It would be used in FL it it matters.
Did not know it was used in water systems

I got one and installed a few weeks back. The main attraction was the wifi capabilities. Filters are very costly and do not see any generic filter that fits it. But does a good filtering. 5 micron advanced Filter became pure rust color in a few days. Using it before a GE softner for well water. Anyone knows any cheaper generic filter option for this?

I don't use for HVAC. I have it for my water system since I have a private well system. We get maintenance and bacteria testing but having a UV light provides more assurance and peace of mind in between test intervals

Had a whole house filter setup before. One thing to keep in mind is that it removes the sanitizer (chlorine) from the water when you use the carbon based filters. This means the water in your home pipes can then grow crap in your pipes. It was pretty nasty after 5 years and you could taste something was off.

Yawn. More bullshit. Flouride is horrible for you.
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends a professional fluoride treatment at your dentist's office every 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on your oral health. If you're at high risk for cavities, your dentist may also prescribe a special fluoride rinse or gel to use regularly at home.

I like making people feel stupid

You clean your water supply from fluoride you are spending more on dental care now

mouthwash , extra floride treatment from the dental office. Costs more . Hope you have a good dental insurance plan lol

I had a reverse osmosis water filter under my sink. Every month they'd get extremely filthy and it uses like 5 different filters. Eventually realized it was more cost effective to just buy bulk water from costco.

I wouldn't expect this puny single filter to do anything for water purity.

You don't have a RO filter then. That's not how they work.

I brush my teeth with potassium nitrate and hydroxyapatite. Additionally, I supplement Vitamin D2 + K3, which helps strengthen bone and oral health.

You don't like making people feel stupid. You like recommending proven toxic chemicals that remain in drinking water for out-moded reasons.

Have a great day.
