They would be fine. These are basically made for Data centers, NAS and RAID use. Their firmware is tailored for that.

As indicated by Dreamer, these are enterprise drives so they will work well. Just keep in mind from googling that these and many other enterprise grade 7200rpm drives tend to make a bit of noise (they are high performance), in particular in some of these dedicated enclosures like synology that seems to make the noise worse. If you will have this stored in another room it will be fine, but if next to you, it might be annoying. Not sure what the right solution in terms of noise is these days as all high capacity seems to have gone to 7200rpm instead of the slower NAS speeds but you can probably google it.

Careful with these. I ordered 6 recently and they all came in repackaged opened boxes/bags and 3 of them had noticeable dings in the housing. They were white label (OEM) drives and Seagate would not honor any warranty.

You ordered them from Newegg or elsewhere?

Newegg, this exact listing. Check the reviews there are tons of people with the same experience. Wish I had done that before having to deal with all the hassle.

edit: Here [ibb.co]is a photo of one of the drives. Keep in mind they were actually decently packed in individual boxes with good padding. This means this drive was packaged like this and sent out to me.

I only order from Newegg if I'm ok with losing the money I'm spending. They used to be awesome but have gone downhill since being acquired several(? a few, many) years ago. The last few years have been a completely mixed bag for how well an order gets handled (a ton of emails to get it fixed, or everything is fine).

I no longer count on them for upgrading/fixing PC's (which sucks, because you really have to hunt around now) - because I don't want the potential headache. I'd rather pay a 10 or 20% higher price and know that I won't get the run-around if something isn't right.

Exos X16 16TB is on the picture, not the drive from this topic.
