No, this is just the normal Player Stratocaster/Telecaster that lists for $800. (It's in an Adorama-specific color for this model, so it's an FSR, but the specs are the same as a normal Player series). Nothing old-stock about it.

What you linked is a "Limited Edition Player Stratocaster" that lists for $1050 and has a roasted maple neck and the "Fat '50s" pickups. They were apparently made for guitarguitar in the UK (https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/news/141269/) and I think in the US are only sold through Fender's web store.
You're not going to find that model for anywhere close to $530.

I think this is NOS (New Old Stock) as they don't have the Fatties on them which is what the value proposition really is.

This is the Fender.com link https://www.fender.com/en/electri...70502.html

Goes - Nowhere in particular

The listed Limited Edition that I own is on the Fender site with the Fatties.
https://www.fender.com/en-US/elec...02505.html

In my humble opinion go for the fatties they are just a world apart and a deal does come by every so often.

They are both great so it's hard to go wrong. This is a solid deal for either one. Looks matter too. Whichever one inpires you more to pick it up and play (which of course is pretty tough to judge over the internet especially if you're new).

The Strat is somewhat more "complex" (tremolo, more pickup positions, etc.) compared to the Tele with its 2 pickups and fixed bridge. So technically you get "more" with the Strat, but sometimes "less is more".
The Tele's simplicity is what is so great about it.

Many people think they don't like the Tele because of the unfair association with godawful trash country music but it grows on you and eventually they come to love it (the Tele, NOT country music).

In the end though, if you stick with the hobby, chances are you'll end up with at least one of each anyway!

Also, Strats are just more comfortable to hold especially when sitting. For some people, especially beginners that may be a consideration.

But the Tele is simpler and more "sturdy" and practically bulletproof. More likely to survive an accidental drop (get some strap locks $4).

And the Tele bridge pickup sounds is superior to the Strat bridge pickup sound. There's a reason people like Esquires that are Teles with only the bridge pickup. But the strat has 3 pickups so it has two different combination sounds bridge+middle pickup and middle+neck sounds that you can only get with a strat.

They're usually priced the same so both are the same deal.

Also both are great modding platforms. Plenty of after market upgrades that you can add overtime to really customize these.

Personally, I think even a cheaper Tele with decent pickups will sound good but I'd pay more for a quality strat upfront.

But if you really like Teles already, then this is a great deal for Fender MIM. I might bite.

I believe this deal has been live for many many months now. I bought the Tele several months ago and every once in a while I check and this guitar is still $529. I think it's a good deal. The guitar arrived well set up and it plays and sounds good. While I suffer like many from upgradeitis I am resisting on this model as there isn't anything that it "needs". It's a great little guitar and this price is the lowest out there for a player series guitar... You just need to like LPB.

Decent deal if you like Lake Placid Blue (I don't). But also, if you're willing to pay close to $600 for a strat I think the PRS Silver Sky SE deal posted recently will get you much more guitar for the same price.

I'm certain there are many folks who would opinion that whatever you listen to is godawful trash, but would be more cultivated with their opinion.
