This deal seems overall redundant considering some of the other laptop deals currently available.

For those looking for a very cheap laptop who're willing to pick up from a microcenter, I'd recommend the $200 hp laptop deal instead: https://slickdeals.net/f/17252290-hp-15-dy5131wm-15-6-laptop-1080p-i3-1215u-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-microcenter-in-store-pickup-199-99
Microcenter locations seem to be occasionally adding new stock of the hp laptop, though it tends to sell out fairly quickly when they do.

While the dell laptop in this deal has a better screen and a 512gb ssd instead of a 256gb ssd, it's nowhere near sufficient to justify paying 50% more imo. The 12th gen i3-1215u in the $200 hp laptop is actually slightly better than the 11th gen i5-1155g7 processor in this deal. Dell inspiron laptops also have a poor reputation regarding their hinges failing prematurely, though this is largely anecdotal.

For those that find some aspect of the hp laptop (such as the lackluster screen) to be a dealbreaker, and would be looking at an inspiron 15 3520 laptop anyways, it would make more sense to get the 12th gen version of this laptop shipped straight from dell for $280, (at minimum) $20 cheaper: https://slickdeals.net/f/17239258-dell-inspiron-15-laptop-i3-1215u-15-6-fhd-120hz-i3-1215u-8gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-280-or-less-free-s-h

Once again, the i3-1215u is actually slightly better than the 1155g7, and at $280 (without any form of additional savings) you get the laptop shipped to you rather than needing to make a trip to microcenter. It also has some other superior features like wifi 6 instead of 5. Additionally, there are extra savings available. For example, you can get a 10% off coupon as a new customer with email signup, american express has credit card offers for dell, and dell has id.me discounts. It should also be noted that the 12th gen i5-1235u version of this laptop is $330 straight from dell, and at only $30 (if you don't get any additional savings) more expensive than the laptop in this deal has a substantially better processor with intel vpro essentials.

There was also the version of this laptop with the amd 5500u 6 core processor available shipped from dell for $270 a bit more than a week ago, though it's currently $300: https://slickdeals.net/f/17253187-dell-inspiron-15-3525-15-6-laptop-1080p-120hz-ryzen-5-5500u-8gb-ddr4-512gb-nvme-269-99-or-less-for-new-customers-fs-dell

Overall, I don't really see the point of this deal. It costs 50% more than the hp laptop of a relatively similar tier, and is (at minimum) $20 more expensive than the slightly superior new version of this exact model that's available for shipping. If you're willing to pay (at most) $30 more you can get the meaningfully superior 12th gen i5 version of this laptop.

Nope. That's only for configurations with type-c ports, and according to Dell none of the 11th Gen models have it and so the memory speeds are limited to 2666 Mhz.

Older 11th gen. Not a bad price today, however, I purchased three ispirons over BF for 230$ after coupons etc with the newer 12th gen processor and similar specs.

Seems like a decent deal, but something about the Dell name really gives me pause. Has anyone had any experience with their laptops the last few years?

I've had several Inspiron Touchscreen 2 in 1s, mostly 11th and 12th gen i7s. No problems whatsoever. I don't like the non touch bulky version.

How do you know it's IPS panel? It only shows "15.6" Full HD LED-backlit Narrow Border WVA Display".

The $199.99 HP deal from microcenter was a much better buy in my opinion. 1215u has better single core and slightly better all core performance (while using half the power 15w for the 1215u vs 28w for the 1155) and for $100 less. If you can still find it I suggest you buy that. As far as dells go, I've had 2 in the past 5 years if that says anything. Had nothing but trouble, from bad batteries, to speakers going out, to motherboard issues. I've had much better luck with HP, but that's just my 2 cents. Dell warranty support is quite frankly a joke (yes even the extra cost in home repairs.)

If you need AV1 decode, get this one. Otherwise, if both are similarly priced, 5500U wins by a long shot

Not a bad price, but 15" in the 3000 series is rough. Performance won't be bad, but build quality will be.

That HP is unlike all the others with its low contrast keyboard. I am too poor a typist to be able to use a keyboard that I can't read.
