LOL enjoy your overpriced Android tablet buddy. Nobody is trying to take it from you. Just trying to help others avoid the same mistake as you.
When someone asks for directions to a restaurant do you point them towards the post office? Equally as helpful as your advice here. I'm sure your mean well but that only goes so far when shoving unresearched opinions down the throats of others.... then insulting them when they say you are way off base. Sorry you need to mail a letter but I'm hungry. Perhaps we have different goals?
*It is bazaar the amount of hate this device has from people who clearly haven't researched a thing about it. Baffling.

these are fantastic. just beautiful machines the steam deck looks like a big honking ugly turd by compare if you've owned both you know. plus 10-12 hrs battery life, sublimely gorgeous 1080p display, great controls and build quality, fantastic value as you cant get a 7" tablet of this quality for 239 let alone one with great game controls built in.
i say i want more power but the power is actually ok because if you mainly want to run emulators more power doesnt tend to gain you much. like you can have 3x more power and ok you can now run 5 more crappy gamecube games lol. slight exaggeration but you get the idea theres diminishing returns.
no compare to the ps portal, as portal is butt ugly, poor battery life, only works with ps. this will work better with ps than portal, but you can also use it with xbox/pc, as a stand alone tablet to watch netflix etc.
so yes this is the gold standard of both retro and streaming handhelds. that is why its almost never on sale from 299. this "sale" being limited to geforce now users is proof of point.
i will say my biggest issue is one of the biggest reasons i wanted one was as a emulation machine for 2d classics like streetfighter 2, but unfortunately the dpad has issues that retro game corps touches on, and you cant pull off fireballs etc in sf2 easily (i suppose you can use the analog sticks...). this was kind of a dealbreaker for me. so just dont buy it if you depend on a great d-pad for 2d gaming stuff.
i am hoping for a g cloud 2 with more power and good d-pad. however i feel the price will then grow high enough to be questionable.
fantastic super fun device though. although i returned mine eventually over the dpad issue, it's still always kind of in in the back of my head to pick up another. tbh though at that point i suppose i should just go with on of the newer chinese retro handhelds but they all seem to have qc issues (example the rg556, rich showed the black finish model is VERY smudge prone, while the translucent model is imo ugly and makes the leds too bright).
Depending on your use case, Odin screen was too small for me for game streaming
It depends your preference. The smoothness of the game play is first priority or the screen size. Except streaming from the device in the lan, all steaming service experiences are not great. For retro games, Logitech could only handle the games up to ps1 and dreamcast very well.

Got for $200. Extremely comfy in the hands and can stream games from my PS5 for hours with no fatigue. The chip inside leaves much to be desired, so if you plan to emulate GCN or PS2 you won't have a fun time.
i wouldnt say much to be desired, it's actually low key decent. it's enough to power tablet use fine for example, where a lesser chip wouldnt be. it's way more powerful than all but the newest crop of retro handhelds (that are priced almost as much anyway, lower build quality, smaller screens, no os/ui support etc). even emulation hits such diminishing returns a sd 8 gen 3 doesnt gain you that much over this. a few more really ugly bad gamecube and ps2 games is nothing to care over imo., being honest early 3d are some of the ugliest and worst games ever created, anything on ps2 for example is just awful, so i dont get peoples concern. it should tell you all you need that the one guy who made the ps2 emulator got mad and quit and noone cared enough to continue working on it so ps2 emulation will never be improved again lol. noone cares about ps2 emulation at all.
lets be honest noone plays those ps2 games, just all the retro reviewers have then queued up to play 30 seconds of for the review, i guarantee they never touch them longer than 30 seconds or anyone. unless it's a 2d game like ff tactics.

There is one thing called upscaling. For example, the original psp game is 480x272. If the device is powerful enough, it can run 2x or 4x upscaling. Since these games are 3d modeled. So the final graphic is pretty good.
I bought a refurb for ~$200 a couple months ago and love this for streaming PS5 or Moonlight from my gaming PC. It's basically replaced using my LCD Steam Deck at home due to higher resolution screen, much lighter weight, and better battery life. Use cases are much more limited than Steam Deck, but it's great for what it is.
Friend, you forgot to mention which device you did recommend for Cloud gaming. That's why you are here, to offer advice and recommendations?
Fabulous screen, built in controller, long battery life...all for $250 or below. Don't forget those yardsticks. Looking forward to you settling this disturbing vendetta of yours.

Retroid rp4 pro is also $200.... made for emulation.
Not worth it. Either for future proof, buy an odin 2 which is about 200% faster or buy a cheap one around $100. Also its screen size is only 4.7 inch and resolution is only 1334 x 750

Odin 2 is better for home use..
no doubt..its also much bigger and $100 more.
At home I'll use a PC.

Heh, for real. I was contemplating returning my G Cloud when I ordered my Odin 2 thinking it would fill the roll of my G Cloud and then some (higher end emulation).
I ended up keeping both units. Odin 2 is a beast when it comes to emulation, but I can't see myself streaming PS5 on it for hours on end like I do with my G Cloud.

I got this from ebay deal for $180. I love streaming to it from my gaming pc, when I just was some gaming while watching a show or not be in front of pc. Works great and has a very long battery life. With moonlight streaming you can also stream your emulators to it (emudeck for pc, etc), instead of installing on the gcloud.

For portability the Retroid rp4 pro is better.
