phones will initially be unlocked.
they will lock to the first sim inserted.
(do not insert any sim until you understand this concept)

so, best case is to use ONLY the method below

Best Method to Unlock:

Put a inactive RP {Red Pocket} sim card (or any inactive ATT sim card {**H2O works as well} in the sim card slot.

{note:att is used because of its lenient and easy unlock policy. other sim will not be the same}

Power up your phone, connect to wifi.
Wait for the phone to activate.
Then you can go through the usual phone setup and confirm that the phone is sim locked under general -> about.

Next go to att.com/deviceunlock.
Start device unlock.
Do you have att phone number? No.
Type in your phone's IMEI (do NOT put IMEI 2, this is esim) then fill out your info on next page and submit.
You will receive one email from at&t right away to confirm your request.
Click to confirm and the second email should come soon with confirming the device is now unlocked.
At this point, take out RP sim card and put a sim card for T-Mobile or Verizon (or any of their MVNOs) in the phone.
Restart the device and it is now unlocked.

**H2O sim also works, cheaper at Target. Link to the H2O 1$ starter kit( https://www.target.com/p/h2o-wire...nk=sametab)

I inserted an inactive straight talk sim card and a tmobile for another one. Apple says it is locked with straight talk and the other one with tmobile. But both tmobile and straight talk could not find the imei on their system. Is there a way i can Gail break this?

They couldn't find it because it was never bought and activated with them properly, your biggest mistake was using those Sims (especially straight talk one) and at this point your best bet is 3rd party unlock which will cost money, another option is to trade them in for some other primo since it won't matter for trade in if they're locked to carrier or not.

I just checked the warranty on the phone in settings under about. It is showing as expired. I called apple to give me the one year warranty. They said the receipt from target has to show the serial number on it. Mine doesn't. What do I tell them in order for them to honor the warranty?

The receipt target gave me just lists the product name and target's product SKU

They asked me to write serial number on the receipt and send it over secured link.
