YMMV - Select Home Depot Stores

Select Home Depot Stores [homedepot.com] [link for reference only; have Makita 18v X2 (36V) LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 21 in. Walk Behind Lawn Mower Kit w/4 batteries (4.0Ah) on clearance for $199.00.

For me, homedepot.com is showing regular price of $699.00 and sale price of $399.00. However, the store I purchased it at had 6 of these with yellow clearance tags of $199.00.

Also if you are eligible for the 10% military discount, even though clearanced, it will also apply and drop it down to $179.10.
Brickseek [brickseek.com] shows me it is clearanced out at other locations as well.

Offer is valid In-Store only

Product ID #: 321778072
Internet #: 088381755894
Model #: XML10CM1

Note: In-store availability and pricing varies by location. Also, clearanced self-propelled version might be in stock near you so look for it too.

In addition, this purchase is eligible for a free leaf blower shipped from Makita through their erebates program [makitatools.com].

What?
Shows up 399
I don't know how you are getting 94 lbs if the bare mower is 54lbs. It comes with 4 batteries and a double charger. I weighed 2 batteries together on my food scale and got a weight of 1lb 13oz so add that to your 54lbs.
I just tried out the mower. I can't test in high thick grass right now. Mostly sparse clover and wild flowers up high. I have some oak leaves on the ground though and I filled up the bag twice packed tight with leaves. I stlll have charge on those 2 batteries and it picked up leaves great.

I'm 59 with a bad back, arthritis, and a handicapped tag.and the mower rolled easy for me.

Did things change? I mean, a 20v mower seems pretty inadequate vs even minorly tall grass and surely was a few years back when I was looking. One star reviews for this and the mentioned DEWALT seem to support going with something else unless you have a very small yard and can be on top of lawn management at all times. Stick with gas or go with one of the 80V systems or the 56V EGO.

Most of the issues with battery life stem from misuse. The trick to these is to never let them go completely dead. As soon as they get to 25% recharge them...if you let them die they'll lose their "memory".

If you read the complaints on the reviews they typically say they used to run for~40 minutes or so but now less than 25 minutes on a charge. I suspect they ran them dead multiple times.
Another "trick" is to never charge them while they are hot. They are normally hot right after mowing so I let them cool down for a bit before charging.

Another trick is never ever ever charge or store them in your garage

Another reason to avoid these. If they can't handle a full discharge then you can't even get the max out of their already limited performance. And sure, if they're hot, don't charge them. However, unless they are even worse than already discussed, their charger should already prevent their charging if they are above a certain temp.

Storing cold is a bad idea, but charging in the super cold is an even worse one. So, bring them inside at the end of a season and charge them indoors for the week or two when the weather starts to dip into the 40s but you might still be doing yard work.

Which part, specifically is false? The part where they said it was on sale for $399 for them, or the part where they said pricing varies by location? Pretty sure all of it is true.

My two free leaf blowers are scheduled for FedEx delivery tomorrow. Never seen a company so fast in processing rebates. Typically companies want to at least wait past return window.

This is ridiculous. I got a 40V Greenworks mower 6+ years ago that's getting worse battery life now. But it was $130 on sale a LONG time ago and I've NEVER done anything special to keep battery life.
