Phone unlocks after 365 days

Starting February 29, 2024, Metro by T-Mobile introduces the online "Bring your number" (port-in) option. People no longer needs to go to the store to get scammed for keeping their phone numbers to enjoy the deep discount. You can choose a $40 plan in most cases (even though it may say a $60 plan ($65 with autopay) is required). If you buy a phone with a new number, you need to choose the $60 plan. The free phone check-out price is $65 for the OnePlus N30, Moto Stylus 5G 2023, etc.
Metro $60 per month plan that is $65 per month ($60 with auto pay), your first month is $65 (tax included). the checkout is $65

The promotion price and availability changing daily basics , especially for the hot items such as iPhone 11, iPhone 12.

$115 ($49.99 + $65 plan) with port-in for iPhone 11
https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/c...-iphone-11

There are three purchase options.
  1. "Bring your number" (port-in): You can choose $40 plan or $60 plan, many free phones, the checkout price is $40 or $65. iPhone needs $60 plan to get discount. For iPhone , you need chose $60 plan to be able to have discount price!
  2. New number , you can only choose $60 plan ($65 with autopay) , many free phones, the checkout price is $65
  3. Existing user can add one line for $40 plan , the total checkout price would be $40 , for free phone
Many other phone "Bring your number" option to get $200 or more discount!

You can activate the phone before or after receiving it. If you don't activate the phone, the system will automatically activate it on day 21 after it is shipped. You should receive an email from "T-Mobile US" with the subject "Your phone is now active" to give you details about your phone, phone number, etc.

If you're porting from Google Voice and having issues then the direct line to Metro's porting department is 800-518-7519

Metro by T-Mobile 180 days unlocking policy! [metrobyt-mobile.com]
180 days after activation, your phone will be eligible to unlock! you don't need keep the service for 180 days, once your phone got activated one time, after 180 days, your phone is eligible to unlock!
Unlock eligibility requirements
  • The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
  • The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
  • One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Metro confirmed multiple times that the deciding factor of your phones unlock date is whether it was activated before May 1st (180) or after may 1st (365), interesting to see how it plays out because people in here have the terms stating that its 180 days until unlock after may 1st.

Any other information about unlocking is fake or scam!
Do not waste your money to get third party unlocking service ! it won't work.

The MOTO Stylus 5G 2023 has *6* GB RAM, not 4gb, per the Metro website. And assuming its the same phone that shipped last time, it has eSIM support as well....

Also, Metro By T-mobile also has the T Life benefit, which means you can redeem 1 year of MLB.TV for free if your line is still active on 3/26/2024.

Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

How much do you think I could flip the 3 iPhone 11's I picked up for $45 each awhile back from a previous Metro deal? Considering buying a second, or third one, I could break even at a $175 sale where I think I can probably get $200 for an unlocked iPhone 11.

Were people able to order a second one with the same payment address / name info?

I don't care that these are locked for 6 months, I use them as cordless phones around the house.

EDIT: Picking up a second one because why not. I'm out of google voice numbers. Is number barn the cheapest way to get my next number?
$150 is the max you're going to get on a used iPhone 11. Check Swappa.

Looked into this deal in order to try and get in on one of those tablet deals. My port in number is one of those t-mobile numbers I used on an older, almost expired tablet. Metro online at first showed $0 for port in until I input that number and then it went to a $30 charge thereafter. Same as if I was getting a new number. SmH

Yes. They don't accept T-Mobile numbers for port in deals. They want new customers not people already from/using their network.

If this helps anyone - the port out process with NumberBarn worked on the first try. They (NB) give you a screen with all the exact info you need to port the number out.

Port out from NumberBarn and port into Metro, or the other way around? I am looking for a better alternative to GV for porting into Metro so that I don't run into all the same headaches that are outlined in this thread.

I'm going to give the Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) a shot, to use with my existing Mint service. Seems like there's at least a chance it will work with Mint out of the box, though I may have to use an APN app to set the correct data. I'm willing to risk it for $40 (first month of service, which I don't need) and $3 to unlock my GV number. Heck, even a case and screen protector are cheap at $6-7.

What really made me decide to try it is this XDA thread [xdaforums.com] with multiple people who have the Metro variant claiming they were able to toggle the "OEM unlocking" without contacting Metro or waiting 6 months. They (supposedly) did this by leaving out the Metro SIM and rushing through setup to get to the debugging screen. For those who couldn't get that work, they claimed that leaving it connected to the internet (without SIM, I believe) for 3-7 days caused it to become available (other Moto phones also seem to have some weird communication delay with Lenovo servers). Furthermore, apparently you can (or could) get the unlock data from Motorola to unlock the bootloader and patch the boot.img with Magisk for full root. There's no LineageOS or other third-party ROM for the phone, but the stock images are out there and for the money, I'm fine with it.

Most people won't understand what any of that means - or even care if they do - but it matters to me! Here's hoping it works out!

It seems that we can only order one phone in existing account, and then we have to activate the phone first to order another phone?

I have done ton of flashing and rooting on Samsung devices (recently got Metro A54 on stock firmware etc).

If you can unlock (try on mint or any other sim) moto g styuls 2023 using mentioned trick (not interested in bootloader unlocking)...please share your experience...just want to unlock before six months to try on Visible.

Don't wanted to steal your thunder.. but you can't root any US snapdragon Samsung phones including A54 that's the fact... If you mean just flash firmware that's totally doable.

unlock boatloader and unlock carrier are completely different things....xda mentioned method is just to unlock your boatloader even you unlock it your carrier still in lock state.. you won't be able to use Mint until 6 months eligibility due from MetroPCS server..

I was referring to moto g stylus bootloader (which you can and I am not interested in that part).

Samsung blocked all US version bootloader starting S8. I have done ton of custom rom flash (on TWRP) on Note series.

I said on A54 installed stock Samsung firmware (never said changed bootloader)

I was referring to moto g stylus bootloader (which you can and I am not interested in that part).

Samsung blocked all US version bootloader starting S8. I have done ton of custom rom flash (on TWRP) on Note series.

I said on A54 installed stock Samsung firmware (never said changed bootloader)

Wait you can flash stock samsung firmware over carrier firmware? I thought you still need bootloader unlock for any firmware change (stock Samsung or otherwise)
