Metro by T-Mobile 180 days unlocking policy![metrobyt-mobile.com]
180 days after activation, your phone will be eligible to unlock! you don't need keep the service for 180 days, once your phone got activated one time, after 180 days, your phone is eligible to unlock!
Unlock eligibility requirements
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
One hundred eighty (180) days must have passed since the device's activation date.
Metro confirmed multiple times that the deciding factor of your phones unlock date is whether it was activated before May 1st (180) or after may 1st (365), interesting to see how it plays out because people in here have the terms stating that its 180 days until unlock after may 1st.
Any other information about unlocking is fake or scam!
Do not waste your money to get third party unlocking service ! it won't work.
The MOTO Stylus 5G 2023 has *6* GB RAM, not 4gb, per the Metro website. And assuming its the same phone that shipped last time, it has eSIM support as well....

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."
Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier
Wait you can flash stock samsung firmware over carrier firmware? I thought you still need bootloader unlock for any firmware change (stock Samsung or otherwise)
Flashing U1 instead of U does not require unlocked bootloader and does not trip Knox.

I have done ton of flashing and rooting on Samsung devices (recently got Metro A54 on stock firmware etc).
If you can unlock (try on mint or any other sim) moto g styuls 2023 using mentioned trick (not interested in bootloader unlocking)...please share your experience...just want to unlock before six months to try on Visible.

Won't work for long. Visible did a sweep & kicked me off after 10 days. Filed an FCC complaint. Will update.
I had gotten this deal by porting in my Google Voice number and was planning on porting out of Metro back into the originating Google Voice account because I want to keep the number and not lose it when I stop paying for Metro. Someone mentioned a few weeks ago that doing this could result in the phone not unlocking when it should. Is there any more information about this? I'm coming up on the end of my month and would like to try to figure it out. Thank you.
Is this true for this phone specifically or all Samsungs or all androids?
I don't think anyone has ever flashed anything ever on any Verizon branded bootloader locked android 8 and over phone
I've flashed multiple Samsung phones from Metro and T-Mobile without any issues. Last ones were A53 / A54. Will be flashing Metro S23 FE soon, when it unlocks in a couple of weeks.
Sorry if this has already been explained, but I went through 2/3 of the thread and am still confused.
I'm currently on Metro and want to use this deal to upgrade to the i12. I'm confused about what exactly the process is for getting my number on to the i12. Am I able to use Metro's 611 number/website to transfer my number to this device as soon as it arrives, or do I have to wait the 60 days for the ported GV number I used to be closed?
unlock boatloader and unlock carrier are completely different things....xda mentioned method is just to unlock your boatloader even you unlock it your carrier still in lock state.. you won't be able to use Mint until 6 months eligibility due from MetroPCS server..
I'm quite aware of the difference; I've been rooting since the HTC Thunderbolt days
My first paragraph didn't mention the XDA thread at all, because I've read that (at least in some cases) Metro phones work with T-Mobile and and other TMO MVNOs without a SIM unlock. I won't pretend to know how TMO manages their MVNOs; it could be that it works specifically because TMO owns Metro and Mint, or it could be that it won't work for the same reason. Or maybe it's fine on some phones and not on others. I'll find out soon, I guess, and if it doesn't work, I'll go down the "purchase an unlock code" route.
The reason I mentioned XDA is indeed for the "OEM unlocking", which (in my experience) is made available once the device no longer carrier-locked. It's a secondary effect to the SIM unlock. I'm not familiar enough with Moto phones to know if bootloader unlock is necessary only for root - I believe anything that requires its own software rather than ADB Platform Tools might - but knowing I can unlock the bootloader is a good thing.

This is not 180 of consecutive service - there is no consecutive service requirement anymore - but only 180 days after activation. This should be an automatic process if you're currently using the phone with Metro. From what I've read, it should also be automatic if you put the original Metro SIM back into the phone on day 181 after activation and (at least) do a network reset and reboot, though a full factory data reset might be necessary.
Worst case, you should be able to contact Metro on day 181 and they will send you a PUK (Personal Unblocking Key or PIN Unlock Key) and instructions for using it (usually by dialing a prefix plus the PUK that performs a specific function on the phone).
